OOC: As he was already aboard, I thought I’d report for duty a little bit differently :P
- Ben

Starr was standing at attention at the airlock as the security escort, knowing that a new Captain and Chief of Security were also coming aboard from the science station. His previous Chief of Security was standing next to him, departing. “Well, sir, it’s been a pleasure” he said. He was now performing his duty as the only security officer currently aboard, though he heard this would also be changing at the station, at least in rumours. The only thing left to do now was await the current captain, as he was a few minutes early.

Nijix adjusted her shoulder strap, securing it. Casually she lead the way into the ship through the door as it hissed open. She bowed respectfully at the departing CoS, recalling him from the brief skim through the profile and continued past. Eagerness to get situated swept through her, but she rein it in. Her eyes glanced back to check on her distance between herself and the CO then waited a moment for her senior to catch up.

-Lt. Nijix Tavium, CoS

It took a few moments for Felix to reach Nijix, stepping through the door to the Challenger himself beside his Chief of Security with a grin as the majority of the crew remained on the Science Station. Hoisting his duffel bag, an old and patched thing he had in his possession since his days at the Academy, he looked at the Trill and began to speak. “See, and without so much as a single trumpet or red carpet or” and as he spoke his eyes fell on a Security cadet standing to one side and looking at them, and he sighed slightly. “Greeting party” he finished quietly. There was always a greeting party. Not once had he managed to slip quietly onto a ship while nobody was looking which was really, a good thing.

“Cadet” he acknowledged the man standing before them. “Permission to come aboard?”.

Captain Rhodes, CO

OOC: If the XO wants to be here as well, think that would make sense, if you want to be :)
-Ben

“Welcome aboard, Sirs.” Starr replied. “Sorry the original Chief of Security wasn’t here to greet you, I know that’s the usual custom, however he is currently occupied. Cadet Starr, Security.” he continued, to introduce himself.

He looked at the two figures, determining that one would be his new chief, at least while his on the academy ship, and the other was a captain, so assumed the new captain, and remained at attention.

-Cadet Simon Starr, Security

Nijix chuckled a moment at the CO’s attempt to sneak aboard on his own ship. She knew from experience it wasn’t that easy as she watched him catch up then noticed the Cadet. Personally, she felt some pride to seeing part of her security personnel stationed at their assignment. Even if the CO wasn’t pleased. After having gotten to know him well enough to be on friendly terms, she placed a hand on his shoulder and gave it subtle pat.

“Better luck next time, Captain.” The hand quickly removed itself.

She turned to the Cadet then began mentally size him up, “At ease, Cadet. I’m the new Chief of Security. It’s good that security hasn’t slacked with the old CoS departing, often happens when a Cadet doesn’t think someone will notice.”

-Lt. Nijix Tavium, CoS

Starr smiled in response “Well, when it is always good to be prepared at all times, you never know when something could happen. Chief or no chief, we have a job to do, it shouldn’t make a difference. Welcome aboard chief.” he replied. “And it’s true, sneaking on a ship isn’t as easy as sneaking off one.” he joked.

Cadet Simon Starr, Security

“Depends on the ship,” Nijix countered.

She had successfully snuck off her own Cadet ship once before. The task was tedious and took far too much energy, but she enjoyed the adrenaline. It made her feel alive in the end. Eventually though, her CoS and fellow cadets got wise to her methods. She couldn’t help, but smile at the times they caught her trying to bypass their security. Pride glowed from her core from it.

Her eyes jerked up to spot the XO’s approached down the hall.

Max grumbled as he walked quickly towards the airlock. Why were Captain’s always trying to sneak on board the ships. He wasn’t a stickler for protocol, but he hated it worse then finding out that the new Captain was sitting on the bridge wondering where he was at. Thankfully he had talked to the duty officer on the Starbase, and they had given him a heads up on when the new Captain was coming aboard.

As he turned the corner he saw the Captain already standing on the ship. Slowing down slightly he approached them.

“Captain, welcome aboard,” he said coming to a stop in front of the group.

Cmdr. Harkness - XO

Starr stood at attention when Harkness arrived, keeping his face as straight as possible, as he rushed around the corner. It wasn’t easy and a very slight smile appeared as the XO spoke, before he quickly snapped back into attention. “Hi, sir, as the new chief of security is also coming aboard, thought it would be proper that one of the security staff are here, has Casen already departed?” he asked.

Cadet Simon Starr, Security

“Relax Cadet, you are perfectly fine. We’d have to check with the duty officer on if the Lieutenant has departed yet or not, but I believe so.”

As the cadet resumed his alert posture, so did Nijix. Unlike the CO, who’s personality she had profiled earlier, the XO was a mystery still to file away. She folded her arms behind her back while she faced her second superior. Her expression showed no emotion aside from professional.

“Lt. Nijix Tavium reporting for duty. We both didn’t want to delay getting to our duties onboard so we avoided any formality and procotl. I hope you can understand, Sir,” She soothly attempted to cover over their decision to sneak on board rather than follow procedure.

-Lt. Nijix Tavium, CoS

Max just smirked and shook his head. He highly doubted that they were eager to get to their duties.

“Well welcome aboard then Lieutenant. I’m glad to see that you are so eager to start your duties, so I should not delay you then. Cadet, would you please escort the Lieutenant to her office, and get her acquainted with the charlie shift duty staff. Alpha shift should be coming on duty in a few hours, and I’m sure she would like to get caught up before then,” Max said trying to put a sincere smile on his face. Two could play at this game.

Cmdr. Harkness - XO
