“You should also know that we prioritize professionalism and confidentiality in sickbay at all times. So you can rest assured that our conversation will remain between the two of us. Do you have any questions or concerns about your current health? Anything else I can do to be of service?” Max asked, setting his PaDD down and returning his gaze to her, giving her his full attention yet again as he gave her a final opportunity to raise concerns to him before he signed off on her physical.

Max Woolley, Medical

Sighed and looked embarrassed. His reaction to her story had not been anything like what she had expected. When the Orions had sold her back to the Catian homeworld she had been sent to a re-education facility. The doctors there had fixed what could be fixed. It wasn’t much but she looked fairly normal now. Less like your animal she had become to survive.
But as her story had been discovered. Fewer Caitans would visit her. Those that did visit did so out of duty. Or pity. Her people were too civilized to day anything. Bit Catt one. She disgusted them.

"Doctor. Nothing I have told you is secret.

It’s all documented in a series of reports published on Cait. Their was even a holodrsma made. Though they didn’t use my real name. The effects of returning to a Fetal state of being fascinated and horrified my people.”,
And she shrugged. Then continued.
“Of course the Feral girl in the Holodrama regained her honor and acceptability to society.... she realised the monster she had become and committed suicide. The events portrayed after the Orion f recovered us. Were greatly untrue. Orions have no interest in females that are immature or who in my case will never mature.”

Cadet Catt Bennet. Sciences.

“Nothing in sickbay is secret. I just wanted to assure you that it is, indeed, private. I don’t mean to imply that you have anything to be embarassed about, mind you. Just that you’ve unpacked quite a bit of personal history here today,” he said, gesturing idly with one hand “I just wanted to assure you that what you tell me here won’t be making its rounds around the crew lounge.”

Max Woolley, Medical

Catt actually smiled in a timid way. Then replied.

“While we do not follow the Vulcan belief on suppressing emotions, Mine are a logical people. You may not think I am a monster doctor. But the potential is there. I would be doing less than my duty to Starflert and the crew if I did not tell them what they need to know about me. “,
Catt had told him enough. Her medical data might tell him more if he understood him. But there was one other thing.

"Have you heard of the Kzinti doctor?"

Cadet Catt Bennet, sciences.

(Kzinti. Felineesqe species of hyper violent and militaristic. Aliens created by Larry Noven for Ringworld. Appear in Trek in the Animated TOS episode The Slaver Weapon. Feral cousins of the Caitans but bigger stronger . Fought 3 wars with the Humsns before formation of the Federation. Lost all 3 due to a tendency to attack before they are logistically ready. )

“The Kzinti…” Max repeated as if thinking. “I have a vague recollection but I’m afraid it’s a topic that I would need to research the topic further…” Max said.

Max Woolley, Medical

Nods,

” The first Caitan i met compared me to a Kzinti. But it was a Holographic teacher. I didnt react well. Emotionally i was what i had to be doctor. But i adapted and i grew. And while i am probably the least social Caitan anyone will ever meet. My planets idea of a hermit still has an rxtended family group. Several husbands or wives and as many children as can be safely cared for. I’m not perfect, i’m not as civilized as I should be. But I stay in control. But when I’m nervious or stressed. Like today. I can focus a bit too hard on what scares me.”

and she settled back onto the biobed waiting for him to start the scans

Cadet Catt Bennet. Sciences.

OOC: Hi there, I think some of our wires may have crossed due to the time difference between when we started and my picking up here (my fault). But Max gave her a once over with the tricorder and took her medical history so I wasn’t planning further scans.

Max nodded. He updated her file in his PaDD and then set it down on a tray nearby.

“Well, shipmate. I have a pretty comprehensive history from you. The tricorder scan was fine, even considering your noted deviation from the standard Caitan profile. I’ll sign off on your physical to complete your onboarding. And, as always, be sure to come back if you experience any injury or illness. Unless, of course, you have any final questions for me before you carry on about setting into the Challenger?”

Max Woolley, Medical

Catt smiled at the doctor.

“Forgive me if I take my leave without any social nicities doctor. The trip to the Station took three days in a cramped shùttle ìve been chasing down the check in list since i arrived. But i should really get some rest and time in a refresher before i meet anyone else.”,

And standing she brushed herself off
Picked up her padd and paused at the exit in case yhe doctor had more to day.

Cadet Catt Bennrt. Sciences.

OOC: Great posting, guys! I look forwards to reading more! I’m just gonna momentarily pop in with Obiah, so if something is said to Catt, it probably would be best to post it above this line. :)

IC:
As Catt turned to leave, another officer stepped over. They had been observing from the sidelines for the past several minutes, her stance unmovibg and perhaps unnoticeable by the members of the party. It was a simple observation to see how the good doctor was faring, now that he had been on the ship for long enough to understand what was going on around him.

With their hands resting casually in a crossed position across their small chest, they glanced over at the door, to make sure of whether or not Catt hand gone, before choosing to speak.

“You seem to be coming along quite well,” the Trill hummed, their voice a mixture of a gruff albeit sonorous tone. “Did you find anything concerning about Cadet Beñnet’s physical?” They asked, just to get a brief synopsis on what he had found out, over the course of the short meeting.

Dr. Torrirs

Max turned to the CMO as they approached the biobed. He offered the PaDD to Dr. Torrirs somewhat discreetly, allowing them to take it if so desired but to not look like they were slighting Max if they declined it. “Cadet Beñnet appears fit for duty. Though she gave me a comprehensive background which I’ve noted in her medical record. Highly significant as a number of factors make the standard Caitian profile inapplicable to her. Without the background as context there would likely be a number of false indicators, particularly around hormone levels,” though addressing Dr. Torrirs, he made sure to periodically look to Beñnet so she didn’t feel that Max was excluding her from this very brief summary.

Max had one doctor pet peeve and that was doctors who talked about their patient in front of them as if they weren’t there.

Max Woolley, Medical

“I’m sure the information Miss Beñnet offered to you will prove to be most helpful,” A smile came across their features, as they glanced over to Beñnet, should she still be in the room, and nodded. Torrirs lowered their gaze to the PaDD in their hands, briefly studying the information that was recorded. Really, they were only making certain that everything was filled out properly, as they trusted the doctor’s ability to run a physical. It was simply the paperwork, in their experience, which cadets fell a bit short on. Satisfied with his report, they inclined their head to him, offering the PaDD back. “Good work, Woolley.”

“I understand Caitian hormones can be incredibly effective towards members of their species, specifically themselves.” They turned their attention briefly to Catt, in case she wished to intervene, as they left the opportunity open, should she desire to. “It is something we must tread lightly with. Despite Caitians being a member of the Federation, there are still so many mysteries we do not yet understand,” Their smile remained, if even a bit crooked.

“Woolley, do you mind adding this information to our databanks, if it is not already present for the Caitian people?” They posed their words calmly, despite it hardly being a question rather than a command.

Dr. Torrirs

Max took the PaDD once returned to him. Nodding with a slight smile, pleased that he did a satisfactory job with one of his first solo physicals. “Aye, Lieutenant” he said in response to the query surrounding adding his updated report to the databanks, pleased that his detailed notes would find their way to aid others.

Max Woolley, Medical

“Well.. I won’t busy you too much longer,” Obiah gave a nod of their head, their stance amiable. “I’ll check in with you later. For now, there are patients to see.” With a faint grin, they waved a hand and headed back to the others.
