Officer Andrew Galvan stood at attention, patiently waiting for his assigned Cadets to arrive. His hard grey eyes drifted to his work PADD and took note of the time. It was getting closer, but he didn’t expect them to all arrive exactly on time. There had been some issues with the Turbolift earlier that day and he had no idea if the engineers had fixed it.

He inhaled softly before his eyes caught a small, mousy girl resist bolting toward his direction. It was Officer Tss Chesyre, one of the cadets. She immediately began to apologize for what she saw as improper protocol.

“Sir, I’m sorry if I’m late-”

Galven interrupted her, “At ease officer, you’re not late. We still have more yet to arrive so fall into line and stand at attention until then.”

-Lt Galven and Cadet Chesyre.

NC Bartlett stumbled in a little after the call went out, adjusting his uniform as he went to make sure he was nice and tidy, ready to take on the day for the new COS. When he arrived he looked around a little lost but fell in with the other cadets making sure to draw as little attention to himself as possible..

Starr exited the turbolift, it stopped and started on the way down. He knew there were issues but he couldn’t help but let out a sigh when he did arrive. He checked, and was thankful he was still on time. He saw Galven and Chesyre, along with Bartlett present as he arrived punctually. He stood at attention when he arrived in line with the other cadets who had already arrived.

Galven waited a few more moments, then decided to simply start. His hand put his PADD into sleep mode while he turned to address the present Cadets. He walked from Chesyre to Bartlett, his eyes sizing all three up. After a single pass, he spoke.

“Here’s your current duty. There’s been reports of missing cargo over the last few days, your task is go through this cart and register them. Notify me if any of them are missing. It will our task to locate it within the cargo hold,” he stated as he handed out tricorders to each one.

“Use these and are there any questions?”

Chesyre took one and examined it a moment. She carefully turned it on, smiling when it came on and looked at her senior officer.

“No sir.”

He looked at the others.

-Lt Galven and Cadet Chesyre.

Simon took the tricorder and switched it on, and nodded. “No sir,” he replied to Galven and turned to Chesyre and Bartlett and asked “so, to make sure we don’t waste time and resources, how shall we split up, make sure we cover all ground. I don’t mind taking this section” he said, pointing to an area in the back left corner of the cargo bay, “and I can work clockwise from there. If we each start from a corner and work from there, working inwards, I think that will be the best way. That’s my idea at least, any others?” he asked the other cadets in a friendly tone.

Galven nodded then stepped away, attending to his own assignments. The group was alone for the moment.

Cadet Chesyre exhaled in relief, her nerves relaxing once more. She was a soft-spoken and timid woman. The presence of Galven, while not negative, made her anxiety shot up and fear of mistakes increased. Now that he was gone, she was much calmer. Her lips smiled as she nodded in agreement with Starr. She looked at her own tricorder then glanced toward the farthest corner from Starr’s workstation.

“I think it sounds good. I’ll start over there,” she gestured with a finger into the direction.

-Lt Galven and Cadet Chesyre.
