The door slid open to admit both of the Cadets, the two of them would see that Felix was leaning on his Ready Room desk with the Chief of Security nearby. “Come in, both of you please.” Felix asked, his English accent clear in the quiet of the Ready Room. “Stand, if you will. Don’t sit. This is a serious matter and I intend to have it done shortly.”

The Captain certainly didn’t look displeased at all, but his voice was flat and matter of fact. He glanced down at a PaDD that lay beside him on the desk, and reached out and flipped it face down, then looked up at Lieutenant Tavium briefly before looking back to the Cadets. They wouldn’t have been able to see the brief grin he gave Nijix from the corner of his mouth that faced away from them.

Captain Rhodes, CO

Max entered the ready room, at first unsure of what to do. Upon being told to stand he found that command incredibly easy to follow as his spine immediately stiffened. “Aye, Captain” he acknowledged as he stood in place, squaring his shoulders and placing his hands behind his back at parade rest. Whatever was coming, he fully intended to take it head on.

As he stood there, Max considered the possibilities. He had been attending to his duties since his arrival. Did he forget something? Did this have something to do with the ship’s counselor? That guy felt like he was profiling a criminal in almost every interaction Max had with him. Maybe his roommate had complained about the incessant oil painting?

No matter. It was, after all, a training ship. If Max had misstepped, hopefully it would result in a training opportunity.

OOC: Loved your post Tim, nice writing!

Simon watched as the doors slid open and stepped in. Seeing the security chief and chief medical officer in the room, he wondered what they were doing here. Different thoughts raced through his head, wondering what happened. All the time, standing at attention.

He continued to do so as the Captain mentioned to stay stand. Him diverting his eye for a moment to the chief made the captain difficult to read. What he was able to tell, from his training, that there was some form of non-verbal communication. As to what it was, Starr didn’t know. He gave a slight nod and awaited what the Captain had to say, fighting the urge to start tapping his hand against his leg in anticipation.

Cadet Simon Starr, Security

Nijix fought back the urge to return a chuckle. She looked forward to the Cadet’s relieved expressions when they learned the truth over their summonings. A subtle bittersweet emotion washed over her at the thought, but the future was bright. Her figure remained standing, like the Cadets, behind the CO’s chair. She kept her lips a steady indifferent line with her hands positioned behind her back, clashed together to keep them hidden. No clue to the thoughts going through her head.

-Lt. Nijix Tavium, CoS

Opposite of Nijix, Obiah’s lithe figure stood, hands clasped behind the small of their back. Without knowing it, that same bittersweet taste made itself far more apparent as they stood before their Cadet, undeniably proud of his accomplishments in his time aboard the Challenger. They knew better than the mourn the loss of a cadet, knowing their future was only moments ahead of them, aboard a Fleet ship. Although, that did not erase that small spur of sadness that came over them. At least they knew Max was going to do great things beyond the Academy. Far more expressive in their thoughts than the CoS, Obiah struggled to hold an apathetic expression, a small smile daring to poke through.
