At last, the time had come for the Challenger to depart the far flung Science Station and begin it’s journey back to Earth.

First, of course, they had a mission. The Challenger and her compliment of cadets was to investigate a distress call made by the Monolith Class freighter, the U.S.S. Potterfield. Low powered and automated only, it didn’t sound like good news for the Potterfield. Luckily for them, the Challenger was one of the fastest designs in the Fleet.

With the turbo-lift doors opening, Felix came out onto the Bridge and nodded to the nearest Cadets that were on Duty as he moved to the center seat and command area where his XO and CNS would take their places as well. “Helm, set course for the following co-ordinates.” He said as he tapped his console on the arm of his chair. “Warp 8 when we are clear of the Station.”

Looking up and glancing around the room, he spoke again. “We are investigating a distress call from the U.S.S. Potterfield, a freighter that has been sending out an automated distress signal for a short time. We are approximately a days travel away but we are going to push ourselves a little and get there quicker. We have no information on what we will find when we arrive, and this is not a drill, it is the real thing people. I expect the best out of each of you. All departments report readiness.”

OOC: Hey people, welcome to the next Sim. Looking at the ships roster you’ll note that we have a few DH’s away on LOA at the moment, that means you cadets get to jump in on the Bridge for them! Take your places, send in a post, and lets have some fun!

“Captain, last of the supplies have been loaded. And all crew have reported on board Captain,” Max said as he slid into his chair. He brought up a ship readiness report on the screen of his chair, and watched as the department indicators came in green.

“Thank you Number One,” Felix replied as he flicked through the last screens on his own armrest console. “Shall we see what we can find out there?”

The helm and navigator stat at their stations ready to receive further orders once the other deck officers were in their places.

The Counselor stepped out of the turbolift and quietly took a step to the side, out of the way from the bridge officer’s doing their duties. He looked around and took note of interactions, body language, and the like; assessing how the crew was working together and responding to the direction of the senior crew members.

Shortly after the Counselor, Torrirs appeared on the bridge. They did not fancy leaving the Sickbay, but they figured it was well attended to, especially with the recent additions of competent staff. “Goodday, Counselor.” Obiah greeted, stepping aside from the activity of the bridge. Watching, they mentally went over the preparations Sickbay had made for the mission, in case of inquiry.

CMO

“Doctor.” Korczak replied with a slight nod of his head.

Looking around at his Bridge, Felix noted those present then looked back to the Helm. Before speaking up, he leaned to the side slightly to his XO. “Does the Counselor always watch over everybody like the Psych Gestapo?” he asked, quiet enough only for his XO, then smirked. “Helm, take us out at quarter impulse. Once we clear the Station, jump to Warp 8.6. Lets not waste time getting to that Distress Call.

“Lieutenant Torrirs,” he said, “How are preparations in Sickbay? Are we prepared for possible injuries?”
