Felix stood at the large window of the Challengers Observation Lounge on Deck One, looking out over the science station where the Discovery Class vessel had arrived at a short time ago, and of course where he had taken command of the Challenger. It was good to be back on a ship. He had missed the feeling of being on the Bridge, of Command. He missed the Broadsword he had to admit, he wasn’t really cut out for life at Starfleet HQ pushing desks and moving flags around a map.

Turning slightly, he looked at the time piece on a nearby console. Felix had decided to hold the meeting here in the Observation Lounge rather than in the conference hall or meeting room, mainly because it was more relaxed and would be where he would hold most of his debrief sessions and meetings with his Senior Staff, especially as it was right beside the Bridge. The message that had gone out to the DH’s had been clear.

=/\= Captain Rhodes to Senior Staff. A meeting has been scheduled at 0700 Hours in the Observation Lounge, Deck 1. Your attendance is required. =/\=

He had already met his Executive Officer of course, and his Chief of Security and Chief Medical Officer. The others, briefly met or acknowledged on the station at the end of the Challenger’s last mission, but this would be their first meeting as a team. Felix adjusted his cuffs, waited, and watched the station.

Captain Felix Rhodes
CO

Korczak entered the Observation lounge. He was dressed in the blue uniform indicative of Science and Medical, and appeared all-together unremarkable. Walking up to the Captain, he extended his hand and said “Captain. While we have spoken briefly on the station, I will formally introduce myself. Lieutenant Commander Janusz Korczak, Ship’s Counselor.” His voice was understated and had an odd accent to it, as if more than one accent was vying for superiority over others. With the hand opposite the extended one, he slightly adjusted the glasses on his face.

Korczak, CNS

Felix took the offered hand and shook it strongly. “Pleased to meet you Commander Korczak, I’m pleased to have you on my staff. Take a seat, the others should be with us shortly, I expect.”

“And do not forget, Captain. We need to meet at some point to go over a few things.” the Counselor replied with a slight smile. He knew people, and especially Command level officers, hated going to the Counselor for the screening.

Max made his way into the Observation lounge. As much as some of his roommates hated it, he had always been a morning person. Even so, he still enjoyed a cup of coffee in the morning. Probably something about being a pilot, and the long hours in the cockpit, he enjoyed the extra caffeine boost. However, 0700 for a senior staff briefing, that was a bit masochistic.

As he walked in he nodded to the Captain, while holding a large coffee mug in his hand. “Captain, Commander.”

Cmdr. Harkness - XO

Korczak turned and inclined his head to the Executive Officer. “Commander Harkness. A good morning to you, sir.” he said in a friendly manner, but still with that odd accent.

Korczak, CNS

“Morning Commander.”

“Good morning Number One.” Felix said acknowledging his exec, and glancing at the large mug. “Not too early I hope? I’m somewhat of a morning person myself.”

Captain Rhodes, CO

Korczak, CNS

“Not at all Captain, I was up at 0500 for my morning workout.” Max took his seat and took a sip of his coffee before putting the mug down on the table. “I like the taste, and there is something about a hot drink first thing in the morning.”

Cmdr. Harkness - XO

Korczak took a seat at the far end of the table. He doubted that he would be called upon much during, what he assumed anyway, was to be a mission briefing. And this would provide him a good opportunity to see how all the senior officers were around each other, not their trainee cadets.

Korczak, CNS

Gordon limped in carrying a large mug of steaming coffee. He found a seat near the head of the table and sat down grumpily. He didn’t looked to be fully awake yet.
