Looking around at his Bridge, Felix noted those present then looked back to the Helm. Before speaking up, he leaned to the side slightly to his XO. “Does the Counselor always watch over everybody like the Psych Gestapo?” he asked, quiet enough only for his XO, then smirked. “Helm, take us out at quarter impulse. Once we clear the Station, jump to Warp 8.6. Lets not waste time getting to that Distress Call.

Max chuckled. “I think they teach that look of that they know you are up to something at the Academy,” he said quietly enough only for the Captain to hear.

Gordon watched the engine display as the ship got underway, then turned his attention to the rest of the bridge.

“Lieutenant Torrirs,” he said, “How are preparations in Sickbay? Are we prepared for possible injuries?”

Captain Rhodes, CO

Korczak, CNS

-Gordon, CE

“Helm, what is our estimated time to arrival?”

Cmdr. Harkness - XO

Korczak smiled slight and said “You know what else they teach, Commander? How to read lips.” in a most nonchalant fashion.

Korczak, CNS

“Is it so that you can tell when people are trying to come up with an excuse not to come to their next session?” Max asked laughing. “Reading lips is definitely one thing they don’t teach at flight school. Because if you are close enough to read their lips, you are probably going to get shot.”

Cmdr. Harkness - XO

Helm tapped in a few buttons. “At warp five we will be there in twenty three hours, forty two minutes,” he responded before looking up over his shoulder, “Path is clear. We could really open her up and be there in half that at warp 8.”

GM Wombat

“Well it is an emergency, and the Captain did say warp 8. So increase our speed to warp 8. All stations, we have about 12 hours until we arrive to prepare.”

Cmdr. Harkness - XO

And with the the helm nodded and “floored” it once they were far enough away from the station. The clock had started and the Challenger was on her way.

GM Wombat

Max looked around at the department heads, no one seemed to be acting.

“Lt Gordon. Ship status report.”

Cmdr. Harkness - XO

Nijix paused just outside the bridge door. She gave herself a quick glance over then let relief wash over herself, confident all the molasses had been washed off. Earlier a Cadet’s prank had misfired. Instead of getting their intending target, she had a whole bucket of molasses crash down on top of her head. All those present had been assigned a cruel and lengthy punishment until the culprit was found. It was put on her to do list for later.

She inhaled then walked into the bridge and quietly slid into her seat at one of the stations.

-Lt. Nijix Tavium, CoS

Helm just did his thing, charting courses and sending the ship along.

GM Wombat

OOC: I am going to back off here for a bit and let some of you DHs and junior crew post.

Korczak was slightly disappointed that none of the new cadets were on the bridge. This would be a solid learning opportunity, and one that didn’t come with the stress of mission operations… for the time being, anyway.

Korczak, CNS

Catt stepped out of the turbolift just in time to catch a bint of a disapointed look on the CNS’s face. Or she might of thought so if she understood humans better. She had come to discuss something with ths CSO. But she stopped short as he wasn’t at the sciences station. In fact nobody was at the sciences station. This was unusual. Not that undocking needed a presence by sciences but more that she would of expected Max to have jumped at the chance. Max likely was much more ambitious than she was and it’s not like a geologist was going to get called upon for bridge duty very often.
Catt flicked an ear in annoyance. Nor as a soil composition specialist was she expecting a great deal of bridge time. “I’m a farmer not a astrophysicist.’ In a soft whisper. It was a running joke at the academy amoung those with doctorates in either medicine or the sciences. A nod to a formor teacher generations past. She made her way to the science station and remaining standing logged herself into the console. She didn’t sit as doing so was painful just now. She set to scanning the local sysrem. She wasn’t expecting to find anything overly interesting as they undocked and set course. But extra eyes couldn’t hurt. Also it was busy work till someone relieved her or a senior officer demanded something of her.

Cadet Catt Bennet. Sciences.

Janus saw Bennet arrive and made a mental note. It was a good sign, her coming and simply taking initiative in that manner without looking for permission. It indicated she was settling in. He had hoped that she would; as her arrival… specifically her assessment with him… had not gone as well as he thought they both had hoped. “But small improvements are good. That means they are sincere.” he thought to himself.

Lillian was a nerves reck this was here first space assignment and Knowing they where going to Klingon, Romulan, and Federation boarders where it could get a bit Hairy if not handled just right by all personnel on board. She checked here uniform to make sure there was nothing she could get reported for. She heard the turbolift slow as she assumed it approached the bridge of the Challenger.
She straitened her uniform jacket one last time and as the doors parted the revel the Bridge. As she exited the lift she noticed the command staff at their station none of whom she really knew but she also knew that this was the life she had chosen as an officer in and ever-changing fleet.
she noted that there was an officer present at the Security station a trill judging by those spots and walk briskly to check it with her CO.
“Cadet Lillian Anderson reporting in” she pulled herself to full attention and waited.
Was that some Kind of syrup she smelt.

Cadet L . Anderson

Max chuckled. Oh to be young and fresh out of the Academy again. Standing up he moved over towards Catt as she sat down at the science station.

“Glad you could join us Cadet. We are heading towards a rescue mission, and we should probably look ahead at what we could be encountering. We’ve already downloaded most of the data from the starbase before we left. Feel up to the task of sorting through it?”

“By the way, how is the hydroponic garden going?”

Cmdr. Harkness - XO

Korczak looked the newly arriving Cadet and nodded once. “Hello, Cadet Anderson. I am Lieutenant Commander Korczak.” the nondescript man said. He was of average human height with a lithe, athletic build. Brown hair and brown eyes were the features of a almost completely average appearance. In fact, only two things stood out all about the man. He wore actual glasses on his face, wire framed ones. They gave him a more bookish and harmless appearance than most expected from a Staf Fleet officer. Second was his accent. It was very hard to place. It was like two or more accents were in a constant fight for victory. He wasn’t hard to understand, but it was just… odd.

He walked over and stood next to her, looking at the view screen. “Tell me Cadet. Have you completed your onboarding check ins, yet? If you have not, I recommend getting those out of the way. If you like, I can assist you in that that?” he offered in a quiet voice so as not to talk over the bridge chatter. “It sometimes helps to have someone show you around a bit when you first arrive. And I am simply observing at the moment. I doubt the Captain and Executive Officer would really mind if I wasn’t hovering. I am certainly happy to assist once you have tackled the Commanders task.” he said with a small smile and pushed the glasses up the bridge of his nose a bit.

Korczak, CNS

=/\=Challenger to Operation control, we are ready for departure=/\= the NE at helm started the uncoupling procedure that lead to departure.

=/\= Copy that Challenger. Disconnecting from station now.=/\= The Docking Control came back from the station. A soft and subtle rumble came as the docking clamps released and the academy ship drifted slightly to the side. =/\=Set baring two nine three alpha dash five. Cleared for quarter impulse until safety zone is reached.=/\=

Navigation nodded his agreement with helm and the ship started to turn slightly, the station slowly disappearing from view as the challenger made her way to the safety zone. Navigation and Helm loaded up the coordinates and plotted their course before helm looked back over his shoulder, “On your command sir. Course is set. Systems are ago. We are ready for warp.”

GM Wombat

OOC: Hehe, you might have forgotten we are already at Warp 8 and en-route, I know you’ve been rather busy lately. Currently we are just chatting as we head out. Feel free to roll us on to the next part, bring on the fun!

IC: Felix checked over his own display and then watched the screen before him in thought. Harkness was already working with Science going over the little information they had and he knew that Tavium would have the Tactical systems well in hand should they discover the disabled ship was anything but an accident. Engineering and Medical would likely be needed, especially if the ship in distress needed crew treated or damage repaired. It was possibly going to be an exciting first mission for these Cadets if things went wrong, and Felix had been around long enough to know they often could.

With 12 hours to before the Challenger arrived on site, they had a little time to prepare. “Lieutenant Gordon,” Felix said as he turned and looked at his Chief Engineer, “the Away Team may be in need of kit’s to effect a rescue. Please ensure enough are available for when we arrive, lets waste no time once we are on site.”

Captain Rhodes, CO
