Korczak looked the newly arriving Cadet and nodded once. “Hello, Cadet Anderson. I am Lieutenant Commander Korczak.” the nondescript man said. He was of average human height with a lithe, athletic build. Brown hair and brown eyes were the features of a almost completely average appearance. In fact, only two things stood out all about the man. He wore actual glasses on his face, wire framed ones. They gave him a more bookish and harmless appearance than most expected from a Staf Fleet officer. Second was his accent. It was very hard to place. It was like two or more accents were in a constant fight for victory. He wasn’t hard to understand, but it was just… odd.

He walked over and stood next to her, looking at the view screen. “Tell me Cadet. Have you completed your onboarding check ins, yet? If you have not, I recommend getting those out of the way. If you like, I can assist you in that that?” he offered in a quiet voice so as not to talk over the bridge chatter. “It sometimes helps to have someone show you around a bit when you first arrive. And I am simply observing at the moment. I doubt the Captain and Executive Officer would really mind if I wasn’t hovering. I am certainly happy to assist once you have tackled the Commanders task.” he said with a small smile and pushed the glasses up the bridge of his nose a bit.

Korczak, CNS

Nijix turned to face the Cadet. She questioned if knew she was the department’s commanding officer or not. For a moment she observed the woman until Korczak interrupted. Casually the CoS stood up while the counselor spoke, introducing himself first then inquiring about the check-in requirements. The trill tried not to snicker. It wasn’t intended to be cruel or mean spirited, but it was hard to avoid eavesdropping when she was sitting right next to the pair.

She decided to make her presence known as she spoke.

“Cadet Anderson, take my station. Show me how up to date you are when it comes to manning it,” her tone was calm, but clearly an order.

A gentle smile was turned to the man, but she didn’t say a word. Meanwhile, she kept a firm eye on the console to ensure nothing went amiss. It took herself a few times to feel confident in operation right out of the academy, so she expected Anderson to make a few harmless mistakes and develop a learning curve for improvement.

-Lt. Nijix Tavium, CoS

=/\=Challenger to Operation control, we are ready for departure=/\= the NE at helm started the uncoupling procedure that lead to departure.

=/\= Copy that Challenger. Disconnecting from station now.=/\= The Docking Control came back from the station. A soft and subtle rumble came as the docking clamps released and the academy ship drifted slightly to the side. =/\=Set baring two nine three alpha dash five. Cleared for quarter impulse until safety zone is reached.=/\=

Navigation nodded his agreement with helm and the ship started to turn slightly, the station slowly disappearing from view as the challenger made her way to the safety zone. Navigation and Helm loaded up the coordinates and plotted their course before helm looked back over his shoulder, “On your command sir. Course is set. Systems are ago. We are ready for warp.”

OOC: Hehe, you might have forgotten we are already at Warp 8 and en-route, I know you’ve been rather busy lately. Currently we are just chatting as we head out. Feel free to roll us on to the next part, bring on the fun!

IC: Felix checked over his own display and then watched the screen before him in thought. Harkness was already working with Science going over the little information they had and he knew that Tavium would have the Tactical systems well in hand should they discover the disabled ship was anything but an accident. Engineering and Medical would likely be needed, especially if the ship in distress needed crew treated or damage repaired. It was possibly going to be an exciting first mission for these Cadets if things went wrong, and Felix had been around long enough to know they often could.

With 12 hours to before the Challenger arrived on site, they had a little time to prepare. “Lieutenant Gordon,” Felix said as he turned and looked at his Chief Engineer, “the Away Team may be in need of kit’s to effect a rescue. Please ensure enough are available for when we arrive, lets waste no time once we are on site.”

Captain Rhodes, CO

Catt looked over at the XO as he sat, “The hydroponics sir is a pain in the tail.”, and she turned to face the XO full on. “As it happens we had just enough time to get the equipment on board. I have mixed ten percent of the nutrient solution so far and managed to find a cargo bay not presently in use for the placement of the tanks. I will require your permission sir to requisition cargo bay four. I also require you to sign off on the installation order.”

It was of course the eternal problem of being a cadet. While you are technically a officer, nobody was going to take a order from a cadet unless the Cadet had a rock solid paper trail supporting their action.

“So far sir I am afraid I must report one minor injury has taken place in connection to the hydroponics project. All the simulations, reading and current theories, failed to notice that mud saps a persons strength when one is exposed for a prolonged period. Modern methods use automation. So this side effect was not something that a modern farming treatese considers. So the project if it has no further results has provided potentially life saving data.”

Catt picked her padd off the console and brought up the forms she needed the XO to sign. As well as a preliminary report on what she and the other science cadets had done so far and a embarrasingly detailed report on the injury she had caused herself while mixing the nutrient solution. Her inner ears flushed a bright pink as she offered the padd to the XO. She allowed the scans she was doing to absorb her attention is a small attempt to pull a typical I meant to do that stance and waited for his responce. She couldn’t help but wince as her tzil attempted to respond to her embarrassment causing her a twing of pain.

Cadet Catt Bennet. Sciences.

Lillian was surprised to see the ships Counselor approach her she made a point of knowing who that was so she could actively avoid him as she hated talking about her “feeling” But being on the bridge she knew she could avoid that talk for a bit longer she looked at him as he approached and answered his questions
” Yes checked in at sickbay before i came here to check in with my department head, I have memorised the ships lay out and all the subsections and anyplace an intruder might hide” Lillian had an ident memory for layouts and numbers, names and faces not so much But cmd Korczak was easy to remember and avoid as he was the only person in the century that still wares Glasses like a man out of history books one might read. Before she could answer his invitation to tour the ship which she serpected was and excuse to analyser her, Lt. trill turned and stood as the Counselor was specking to her she assumed this was the chief of security and the offered her, her station.
Lillian slip on the the chair “Yes Sir” and begin to study the console before her,
she noted that security statues was on low and the Shields where on standard for a ship at warp. Lillian then placed the request for stations to check in.
Lillian knew she was being watched and all she could hopeful was that she didn’t blow up the ship but then again if she did blow up the ship she wouldn’t have to live with the shame.

Cadet L. Anderson, security

OOC made and edit to my post just spelling any other issues let me know

OOC: Just fixing an earlier split. Nice post Julie, a few spelling things etc but it was great content and reacting to the two Officers. Great stuff.

Dave

T’Kam had just caught the tail end of Catt’s request to the XO as he stepped off the turbo lift. “Cadet Bennett is quite brilliant when it comes to agriculture and the creation of the hydroponics area.” He walked over and inclined his head. “My apologies Commander, I would have brought this requisition and report myself, but had a few priorities that required my attention prior to coming up to the bridge and asked Cadet Bennet to bring it up.”

OOC: Still reading up on everything, but wanted to make sure I get something in! Should hopefully be able to post more often now! :)

T’Kam (CSO)

OOC: Geoff’s lesson - When we start getting really long threads, it is considered polite to “snip” the thread as I have done here. Usually just delete stuff more than 5-10 posts back to keep the notes crisp and easy to read, especially as we see a rise in people playing from mobile devices.

I am going to let you guys continue your en route discussion in this thread and will start another one for when you guys drop out of warp.
