Cadet Osten listened intently, crossing one leg over the other and clasping his hands around the raised knee. His eyes maintained contact with the Lieutenant’s as he nodded in understanding. He appreciated the wisdom, and the sentiment.

Wiles did blink in surprise at the chief of security’s next question. He opened his mouth for a couple seconds before words came out, glancing upwards in thought. His response started uncertain, then became more confident as he spoke. “I suppose… hmm. Well, I guess I really enjoyed the opportunity to learn from so many different academic disciplines. I pride myself on being a pretty well-rounded individual, and I’m glad that I got at least introductory knowledge for all areas of Starfleet. I feel like I grew a lot from exposure to all those varied perspectives.”

A small smirk darted across Nijix’s lips. She continued to relax as she decided to begin wrapping this meeting up. There was plenty of time to learn more about him and her other Cadets. Once more her PADD was pulled closer to her and popped up the schedules.

“What shift do you find you do best on?” She knew every Cadet, even well-rounded ones, had times of days they did best or needed to improve on.

Which she was going to decide was difficult to read on her smiling face.

Wiles paused, eyes flickering upwards. “I’m not sure I have a preference, Lieutenant, I’m sure I can make due with any shift, wherever you need me.” He looked back at Tavium with a sheepish smile. “Ah, there it is, my indecisiveness on full display.”

(Wiles Osten, Security Cadet)

Nijix chuckled. She leaned into her desk and placed her elbows onto the surface, her hands folded underneath her chin. A mischievous smile curled across her lips while she spoke.

“Consider this part of your training and your first assignment. It’s likely one of the few choices that don’t have extreme pressure. We have shifts of eight hours, the first one starts at midnight and they rotate from there. Schedules will change based on alert status.”

Cadet Osten sat staring over Lieutenant Tavium’s shoulder for a short moment, then spoke slowly as he made his choice. “I suppose my circadian rhythm has always lent me to being more of a ‘morning person,’ and I know that distinction is less important on a starship, but… maybe it would be best for me to start with the O-800 to 1600 shift. If that’s alright with you, Lieutenant.”

IC: “Perfect. Report in the cargo bay for duty and you’ll be assigned to senior William. You’re dismissed.”

Nijix stated in a calm, but friendly tone. Her attention returned to her ‘paper’ work once more unless the officer required her attention.

OOC: And that concludes this thread, unless he has more to add. Congrats on completing one of your required intro threats!
