Lieutenant Commander Korczak reviewed his files and scowled. One Cadet who had not checked in. ‘That simply won’t do.’ he thought to himself.

Tapping his comm badge, he said =/\= Lieutenant Commander Korczak to Cadet Anderson. Please report to my office. Thank you. =/\= and he reviewed her file for a second time in five minutes.

Korczak, CNS

Lillian was just stealing to her sheared quarters on the lower decks of the Challenger when she was interrupted by her com badge chipping at her and it was lieutenant Commander Korczak The ships counselor she should have known he would catch up with her as she was making a point of missing his office and the check in that was meant to be done when you came on board but she was so over counselling sessions as after the dominion war and what her family had been throw it was normal for starlet to debrief families involved in traumatic evacuations.
Lillian decided she could not avoid him if he was calling her.
=/\= On My way Sir =/\=
she left her quarters and started making her was thro the ship to the last place in the whole universe she wanted to be.
As she approached the office door she made sure to right her uniform and set her face to a neutral expression, she reached out and pushed the buzzer for the door.

There was no sound from the inside, but the door slid open and revealed a space unlike any other on the ship.

The office was lit in a more subdued manner than the rest of the ship, with the light coming from wall lamps rather than the typical overhead lighting. Multiple bookcases with glass enclosed shelves lined one wall, filled with copies and originals of many texts on many different subjects, and a quick glance would show multiple languages as well. The desk was set at an angle against the opposite wall to the door in the corner, allowing for a large open space in the middle. Here there was a couch and a few chairs, one of which sat in front of and facing away from the desk. Pictures hung on the walls, some were even old photographs. Each depicted either places, individuals, or groups of people, and many were in black and white.

Seated at the desk was a plain looking human male with brown hair and brown eyes. He average looking; the kind of person that would be lost in a crowd of more than four or five people. He wore the blue uniform of the Science and Medical Sections, and Lieutenant Commander pips showed on his collar. There was one distinguishing feature about the man, however. Actual glasses were perched on his nose. He looked up, and a very odd accent issued forth, as if multiple accents were vying for control. “Hello, Cadet. I am Lieutenant Commander Korczak, Ship’s Counselor. Please come in. Would you like something to drink?” he asked and gestured to the replicator on the wall.

Lt. Cmdr. Korczac, CNS

The door opened to reveal the counsellor’s office and a rather plain officer sitting at a desk.
They always sit at their desk
Lillian walked in to the office and approached the desk she didn’t see anything that amazing in the office it was like all the other offices she had been in.
” Cadet Lillian Anderson reporting as ordered Sir” she stood to attention in front of the desk.
Lillian hated check ins they always want to get to know her but was there really a point on the training ship i mean after they finished this trip she would get here first assignment on what she hoped was a starship, Lillian was not a fan of stair bases they always stay still there was nothing to see on them, no way to make a name for herself to distinguish her self from her family name.
Lillian’s Family had been in service since starfleet was started in the 22nd century.

Korczak nodded his head once and said “At ease, Cadet. And I appreciate your time. Now then…” and he stood up and walked around the desk to the replicator on the wall. “I was just about to get myself some tea. Would you care for anything? And do take a seat, Cadet.” he said and indicated the small sitting area away from the desk. “I don’t stand on much formality in here.” He then turned back to the replicator. “Black currant tea with lemon. Iced.” and a scant moment later the beverage appeared.

Korczak, CNS

Lillian watched as he walked around to the replicator and advised her to take a set Lillian saved the office and to a seat near the desk
“No sir, I don’t require anything”
Lillian watched him order and the drink appear.
Lillian would let him make the first move By doing that she would be able to feel out what his style was like and what his plans where for this meeting if it was going to be a standard check in or if he was going to start trying to “fix” her Issues.

Korczak took the beverage and turned to the seating area. “Please. Let’s sit over here away from the desk. I find having that cumbersome piece of furniture between me and those I speak with to create unneeded barriers.” and he took a seat in the more informal area, setting the drink on the small table in the middle.

“So how was your trip to the Challenger, Miss Anderson? Uneventful, I hope?” he asked, his odd accent lending a strange cadence to his words, but his speech was clear and easy to understand. His face was expressionless, and his demeanor was simply… there. If two more people were speaking in the room, the Lieutenant Commander could just as well have been another chair.

Korczak, CNS

Lillian watch as the Lieutenant Commander walked over to the other set of chairs and invited her to join him over there. Lillian decided to move to the furthest point she could safely occupy with out looking like she was trying too.
Lillian sat ” The trip went well no issues, its good to have space back under my feet” Lillian had hated being at the academy and being plant bound for so long but it was a means to an end now she was on the path to becoming an officer like here whole family.

Lillian Anderson security

“You prefer space to planet assignments, then?” he asked. He noted her choice of seat, but said nothing and gave no indication of any kind of thought about it.

Korczak, CNS

Lillian sat as he ask about her assignment preference.
” Yes, I have spent most of my life in space. plants and star bases are just sitting targets.” Lillian was happy in space.

OOC: A note for going forward. You are not required to italicize your character’s speech. In this format, we typically use that for emphasis or perhaps to indicate when a telepath is speaking non-verbally.

Korczak cocked his head slightly to the side. “That is an odd description, Cadet. ‘Sitting targets’ you say. What do you mean by that? Is that a tactical analysis, or a personal opinion?”

Korczak, CNS

Lillian Was Not sure if she should keep playing this game or just come out and say what she was thinking about this assessment she knew she made a mistake saying about here feeling on space stations and planets but she was sure that her issues where in her service Jacket assessment anyway.
“Ok Sir I going to come right out and say it, I grow up with my parents serving in the fleet we went thru the war and I was on both starships and Planets that where attacked by the Jem’Hadar and I can tell you planets are much harder to move when there coming at you, so its a tactical analysis and my personal opinion?”
Lillian Knew here voice had raised a few levels as she reached the end of that sentence But really it not like he hadn’t read her file.
Lillian Knew she had a file as she had been seen by Fleet counsellors since the war.

OOC: LOVE this background. And the exchange between these two is amazing. Keep up the good work!

I don’t know if you are aware or not, but you actually can set up all of this in your character’s biography section. From the Main Page, click on Profile. Under Rostered Characters, click on your character’s name. Then over on the middle-right side of the screen is a button for Edit This Character under the heading ‘Actions Available’. Click that and you can add a whole biography for your character that others can read. This is a huge help when you go to a new ship as other players can read that and get ideas for check-in threads, meeting your character for the first time, and a sense who she is prior to getting in a thread. It also helps you keep track of all the things that your character has happen to them during their time in the club.

IC: The raising of Anderson’s voice and her obvious distaste for the process was a bit of a surprise, but Korczak remained passive. He allowed a few moments of silence to pass so the Cadet could take a moment and ‘regroup’ a bit, and then he spoke. “I appreciate your candor and honesty, Cadet. And I harbor no judgement as to your reaction. I find it actually completely reasonable and healthy. That being said, I would like to take a moment before we continue. Just a pause to allow for any… uncomfortableness… you may be experiencing to dissipate a bit.” and with that he paused again before saying “What do you do for fun, Cadet? And yes, I know the Academy is a demanding time, of course. But in the free time you do have, what do you like to do?”

Korczak, CNS

OOK: sorry i been away for a bit, am working on char profile atm.

IC: Lillian took several deep breaths to calm herself as she sat and listened to the counsellor speck. she had been told so many time how normal her feelings were but that dint change how she felt.
The counsellor then asked her about her about what she did in her down time.
” I like to read, run and training. Always need to be combat ready sir”
Lillian hated talking about herself it was annoying she much rather talk about others. even as a child she preferred to talk about others rather than herself it was easier.

Lillian Anderson security cadet

“And what do you like to read? Fiction? Non-fiction? Poetry?” he asked.

Korczak, CNS

Lillian shifted in her seat. ” I like to read Fantasy and old earth Science fiction it funning to see what they thought our time would be like” Lillian hoped this meeting would end soon but didn’t want to show that to the counsellor as he had the power to puller from active duty .

OOC forgot to sign it

Koczak’s head tilted to the side and a small upturn of the corner of his mouth gave an indication that he may actually have the capacity to smile. “Cadet… it does not take someone trained in psychology to see that you are uncomfortable here. But you need to know that this is the one place that you can be yourself. I don’t judge. And contrary to what they may have told you in the Academy, my job is not to find a reason to keep you from graduating. I just have to make sure that service aboard a star ship is healthy for you. Being uncomfortable talking to people is okay; but you will be doing this kind of thing many, many time over the course of your career. And the more resistant you are to it, the more difficult these meetings will be for you. I know that the war made things difficult for you. But it made things difficult for many others as well. You are not alone in that. But a good officer knows how to not only do their job and look after their crews; but how and when to look after themselves. There is no shame or weakness in talking about yourself or what troubles you. It’s when we don’t that things can get… difficult.”

Korczak, CNS

bump

OOC: Sorry was a way for a bit as a death in my family am back now.

IC:
Lillian was sure he was right but trust was a big issue for her she had seen a lot of her family Friends removed from duty during and since the war. Lillian also knew That Korczak had a point Trust and need to check your self.
“I know sir its hard for me to talk to others but i try and i know i have to Check my self so i will do my best to be more comfortable with the process sir”
Lillian was sure she could do this she sat up straighter in her chair

Lillian Anderson
Security cadet

OOC: My sympathies to you and yours. And don’t worry about the delay. Things happen.

James

IC: Korczak nodded once and then said “Good. So let’s try something a bit different. What is your favorite meal?”

Korczak, CNS

Lillian sat back a little in her chair and thought for a moment
“I really love my mum’s home made Butternut, Sweet Potato, and Red Lentil Stew but the replicator never gets it right”
Lillian was relaxing a little but still a bit unsure

Lillian anderson
security Cadet

“The replicators can be a bit too rigid in their interpretation of some meals, true. I find the same issue when I ask for perogis.” Korczak said. “What is it about that meal that you enjoy the most?”

Korczak, CNS
