“Rivera!” Obiah called out to a Medical Cadet, gesturing him over. “I need you to run scans over each of the gathered individuals. Make sure they aren’t showing any internal or external signs of illness–anything out of the ordinary, even if it’s as simple as elevated blood pressure or sweats, run it by me. Capische?” They handed him a medical scanner. “You can do this, Rivera.”

“Aye..” The cadet paused a second, taking in all Torrirs had ordered. Glancing down at the scanner, he nodded. “Commander..would you like to go first?” He shyly approached Harkness.

“Sure thing Cadet. Let’s get this out of the way,” Max said as he moved over towards the Cadet. The sooner they got this out of the way, the sooner he could take a team back to the ship.

Catt’s eyes went wide and she choked on a laugh. ” I am a idiot Sorry. ” She said to anyone who looked her way. “We don’t need to bring in gear. The Challenger is outfitted with holoemitters everywhere. We can just create what we need right here and get rid of it without risk.to anyone outside med bay.” Her tail was still lashing about giving the lie to the calm fascade she was trying to portray. “I am going to spend a great deal of my free time in a hot spring when we get out of here.” She muttered quietly to herself. She sighed heavily and took the plant samples out of her sample bag. “I didn’t get any of the thorns. But I have various samples of what covered the walls. It may give us a baseline on what we are dealing with. Including the plant matter I choked on. The saliva should of interacted with it. So we could potentially extrapulate what long term exposure might do to a person. Though not being human it might react differently to me than to humans exposed.”, and giving the computer orders she set up a compact workbench with scanners and equipment for her specialization in as out of the way a corner as she could find..
Cadet Catt Bennet. Sciences.

OOC: Please don’t forget to snip guys. If you’re worried about snipping too much, snip 1-2 replies at the top or until your oldest reply. If you snip something important, the GM will go back and place it back in.

IC: Nijix felt a bit guilty. She hadn’t meant to make the Cadet feel ashamed about her reaction, but it was too late. Any words she said, she assumed would be on deaf ears. She made a note to call the feline Cadet to her office and talk with her after this was all over.

She checked on Osten again when she noticed his shivering had increased. Her hand snatched an extra tricorder and began to scan his system for answers. She mentally thanked her past life as a medical officer and her drive for answers.

As the conversation occurred between others, Nijix’s voice spoke out.

“While we’re talking about how to help them, can we do what we can for the injured? Osten’s condition has gotten worse. His fever is spiking now.”

She didn’t think it was necessary to tell anyone what happened to the brain under a high fever for a long time. Her eyes glanced over to Richards to spot the signs of puss and discoloration of necrotic tissue.

“Kiernan, 200mg of naproxen for Osten, pronto!” Torrirs called out to another cadet, waving them towards Osten to start treatment. “Run another scan on him. I want to know everything that’s happening.”

“And Richard’s wound is oozing puss and going necrotic. Someone needs to get a sample and examine it. It might give us some information.”

With caution, she began to slide her arm underneath Osten’s and pull him to the nearest biobed. If he resisted at all or showed worsening, she would stop immediately. If he didn’t, then she would’ve moved him onto the bed and stepped back to let the medical officers take over. With two suffering patients and the samples, Nijix hoped they could unravel the mystery.

-Lt. Nijix Tavium, CoS

“Everyone who isn’t Osten, Nijix or Richards.. please get calmly see to Doctor Rivera; he will scan each of you and confirm you are not infected.” Obiah turned, surveying the group. “Lt. T’Kam, do you mind assisting me gathering a sample off of Richards’? The necrotic tissue needs to be removed, the puss cleared out so the wound can be sealed. However much you need is yours.”

“Nijix,” Torrirs shifted their attention to the CoS. “You’re doing great. Whatever you can do to keep him calm will help us a lot. We’re not yet sure what is going on, but we’ll treat what we do understand until science analyses the samples.”

Nodding to her, Obiah left to retrieve surgical equipment to begin removing the necrotic tissue. Once tissue went necrotic, they knew it futile to try and save it–but they could stop it from spreading and that’s what they planned to do.

Dr. Torrirs, CMO

Cadet Osten had certainly declined quickly. He was nonverbal now, consumed by the fever and chills. He was unnaturally sweaty, and Nijix’s arm would likely become damp from reaching underneath him. Wiles’ golden uniform started to turn a few shades darker where it was touched as the moisture soaked through. His hair clung to his forehead in dark streaks, contrasting its usual light poofiness.

Wiles did not resist Leuitenant Tavium as she brought him to the biobed, but he was almost dead weight, having become weak and lightheaded in the process of rising up from the floor. Eventually, though, Wiles was seated on the biobed, where he struggled to keep himself upright but resisted laying down.

As Cadet Kiernan approached with the hypospray of 200mg of naproxen, Cadet Osten stiffened and leaned backwards. If the other cadet did not take the hint and got too close to Osten, he would pitch forward and swing at Kiernan, attempting to fight the doctor off and potentially sending himself tumbling off of the edge of the biobed in the process.

Perhaps Nijix or others that were watching him closely could tell that Osten was in a pretty severe “fight” mode. However, he was choosing these fights carefully. Cadets Bennet, Kiernan, and Richards (all of whom he had acted aggressively towards) did not share a few key traits with Commander Harkness or Lieutenant Tavium (who Osten had seemed to avoid confrontation with).

(Wiles Osten, Security Cadet)

“Alright boys and girls, you heard the doc. Let’s give them room to work, while the rest of us get checked out,” he said as he motioned to the rest of the away team to move towards the other side of the quarantine area. He kept a wary eye on Osten, he was not in a good spot.

Cmdr. Harkness - XO

Korczak noted the XO’s look toward Cadet Osten and simply moved toward the young man, keeping a healthy distance. Crossing his hands behind his back, he stood and looked at Osten and said in his typical calm and flat manner “Hello, Cadet. I understand there were some unexpected complications you ran into with your team, and I know you are not feeling well right now. I’m sure that the Medical staff has you in good hands, though. Would you mind talking with me for a moment while you rest?” Korczak was well aware of the Cadet’s tendency towards introspection and his tendency to defer to others in a group, so he added “Sometimes I find it best to discuss such matters with those who are the most keen observers first, before I delve into what happened with others.”
