Koczak’s head tilted to the side and a small upturn of the corner of his mouth gave an indication that he may actually have the capacity to smile. “Cadet… it does not take someone trained in psychology to see that you are uncomfortable here. But you need to know that this is the one place that you can be yourself. I don’t judge. And contrary to what they may have told you in the Academy, my job is not to find a reason to keep you from graduating. I just have to make sure that service aboard a star ship is healthy for you. Being uncomfortable talking to people is okay; but you will be doing this kind of thing many, many time over the course of your career. And the more resistant you are to it, the more difficult these meetings will be for you. I know that the war made things difficult for you. But it made things difficult for many others as well. You are not alone in that. But a good officer knows how to not only do their job and look after their crews; but how and when to look after themselves. There is no shame or weakness in talking about yourself or what troubles you. It’s when we don’t that things can get… difficult.”

IC: Korczak nodded once and then said “Good. So let’s try something a bit different. What is your favorite meal?”

Lillian sat back a little in her chair and thought for a moment
“I really love my mum’s home made Butternut, Sweet Potato, and Red Lentil Stew but the replicator never gets it right”
Lillian was relaxing a little but still a bit unsure

“The replicators can be a bit too rigid in their interpretation of some meals, true. I find the same issue when I ask for perogis.” Korczak said. “What is it about that meal that you enjoy the most?”

Lillian looked at him and answered
“It the heat but no so hot that you cry” she gave a small laugh “it a heat in the back of you through like a tang and i like making in with fresh stuff so i can adjust the flavour make just right and it get stronger if you cook it low and slow” Lillian kind got lost in here talk about the meal Lillian liked cooking it was a hobby of hers well she wouldnt call it that but people who knew her would say it was it was good way to forget about issues in her life

Korczak nodded as she spoke, and when she had finished immediately said “My family makes a dish that does the same. Slow burn at the back of the mouth and slowly builds, but never becoming too overpowering. Its made with cabbage and greens. One of my favorites. I do enjoy spending time in the kitchen. I find it almost… liberating, I think is the right word for it.”
