Cadet Osten eyed Lieutenant Tavium warily for a second, glancing at the hypospray in her hand. Then Wiles abruptly reached out to snatch the device from Tavium, and if successful would quickly administer the medicine to his own neck. It seems he needed even more control than what she had already allowed him.

Wiles slumped forward for a moment as the naproxen ran through him, helping his fever a bit, at least allowing him to appear more cognizant when he opened his eyes again. His gaze met Leutinant Commander Korczak’s.

“My keen observation, counselor,” Wiles snarled through gritted teeth, “is that you are a useless waste of space that Starfleet Command obviously buried on this ship of incompetent backwash crew to ensure that your utter lack of approachability, relatability, and sociability doesn’t cause a massive morale nosedive on starship that actually matters.” He would spit in Korczak’s direction, eyes burning with a misplaced aggression.

Lillian was really shocked when the cadet Osten spoke to a superior officer in such a way and then she processed what he had said. It was no secret that she herself did not like councillors but really there was no need for that kind of talk. Lillian wonded how much of what he said was the illness and how much was his own thoughts and feeling.

Korczak looked at Osten and a very uncharacteristic smile played across his features momentarily. Taking off his glasses, he pulled a small cloth from his pocket and began wiping the lenses. “You know, Cadet… I have a feeling that at a point in the very near future you are going to be quite embarrassed at that particular choice of words. But I assure you, I won’t hold a grudge. Your shipmates may have a bit less understanding at being called ‘backwash’, but that will be up to you to deal with.” Tucking the glasses in a case as he spoke, he slid it into the same pocket with the cloth. He then looked at Osten, his face the calm and expressionless mask it typically was.

Catt’s ears lifted and adjusted to face Osten as the man apparently revived enough to utter vile slanders at the CNS. She peered over the equipment she had been mostly hidden behind. Her tail had been quiting down but Osten’s hostility set it whipping about again,
“I am not sure if it’s the metal toxicity or the bacterial soup from at least six worlds or both that is causing the fever on Osten. But Richards used the standard med kit sterilzation packet on him and that mostly stopped the rapid growth. Leaving his latent bigotry and metal toxicity as potential causes for his behavior. Of course I’m a xenobiologist not a doctor.” , Catt had no illusions that her trying to help might be taken well by Osten and her speaking up likey would set him off again. But if he did break loose and come at her she wasn’t going to be defenceless and have her back to him this time, and she admitted to herself. She did want some payback.

Lillian was waiting to be scan when she decided to ask so questions
“Doc how long this like to take i like to go report what happened over there”
Lillian always hated standing still it was a waste of time but she knew she could not go anywhere till she was cleared for duty.
It was hard to know what to do she was trained but this was a bit out of the boring day to day stuff that happened on starship. people alway thought this stuff happened every day but really its rear on starships we it was on all the one her family had been on well apart for the war.
“Sir” she look at Commander Harkness ” do you want me to report to the bridge once or should i say if i am cleared”

Lillian if cleared will leave to report to bridge if told too.

“It’ll take as long as it needs to Cadet. But once you are cleared, go get cleaned up and grab some chow. Then come back here, and help out the doc in case something goes wrong. If we need you, we will call. Sounds good?” Max was trying to remain calm, but he was also wondering how long it was going to be. He wanted to go find their wayward cadet.

Cmdr. Harkness - XO

Nijix was successfully taken by surprise. Her hand was unable to jerk the device out of Osten’s reach when he grasped it and injected himself. She blinked then frowned at his venomous words and bit her tongue. For now, she allowed him freedom with his actions because he wasn’t in his right mind. Later would be a completely different matter.

She glanced at the Counselor with a subtle and apologetic look.

Any more comments were cut off when Lillian requested directions. Nijix thought a moment, but the XO answered instead. It was sound advice causing her to agree with him.

“You heard the XO, cadet. Go get something to eat while you can and return back here afterward.”

-Lt. Nijix Tavium, CoS

Wiles did not attempt to move from his perch on the edge of the biobed as Nijix guarded him, but the tenseness of the muscles in his neck gave the distinct impression that Cadet osten was extremely close to lunging at Lieutenant Commander Korczak.

Reconvening with the Doctor, Rivera went over briefly the scans he had taken of the assembled crew. The concern once filling his gaze has been eradicated by the reassurance of their scans.

“I think a quick decontamination should do it, Doc.” He said, gesturing to the tricorder in his hand.

“I agree.” Torrirs turned to the crew, “Listen up!” They yelled, their voice hoarse from barking orders at their passing medical staff. “It looks like the lot of you are clear, aside from a few spores here and there. So, we’re going to get you through a decontamination spray and then you’re off!

“Please grab a glass of water–hydrate or dydrate!” Although it sounded mocking, there was no amusement behind their voice. “Food and rest! I understand you have duties, but your health comes first. Now, please follow Dr. Rivera to decontamination and stay clear of my sickbay for as long as possible!”

Without further word, Torrirs directed their attention to Richards, peeling and cutting away the material of his uniform to uncover the infected areas of his skin. There was no chance of reversing the necrosis, not that they could tell, so debridement seemed their best option. “I need anaesthesia on hand!” In case Richards came to, they wanted to be prepared to keep him as still (and comfortable) as possible.

“You heard the doc,” Max said grabbing a glass of water, “drink up!” Max chugged the glass before he followed Rivera towards the decon unit.

Catt’s comments prompted a snarl from Wiles in her direction, distracting him momentarily from the ship’s counselor. His eyes then darted around the sick bay from person to person as they were disinfected and released. He watched each of them leave intently… happy to see them go.

As the sickbay cleared out of most non-medical officers, Wiles was emboldened once again. He slipped out of Nijix’s reach and jumped down off the biobed, taking a step toward Korczak menacingly. His body twisted as he started to approach, as if slinking towards prey. “So easily distracted from your line of questioning, interrogator? I didn’t realize one little insult would derail a FedSec officer so quickly. Perhaps another hint as to why you were outcast to a ship like this? You couldn’t cut it as an interrogator and now everyone knows you can’t pull your weight as a counselor either. What’s the next step in the demotion chain, hmm?” He grinned as he spoke, taking some kind of venomous pleasure in attempting to intimidate the other man.

(Wiles Osten, Security Cadet)

Korczac didn’t flinch or react to the tirade emanating form the Cadet. He simply looked at him and raised his eyebrows, the expression on his face asking simply “Are you done?”

Catt wrapped up her scans filed the results sending copies to medical, and sciences she had the NE Riviera scan her as soon as possible and was into the decontamination as fast as a Caitain can bolt. As her fur had greater risk of holding contaminants than skin did she stripped and discarded the uniform she wasn’t body shy anyways, and in any case her fur would hide the gender specific bits anyways. She noticed Osten glaring at her and felt the fear well up again, she borrowed a lab robe from a storage bin and covered herself. Holding it closed she kept as fzr from Osten as was possible as she headed for the exit. She was just about out the door when osten broke free of Lt Tavium and confronted The Councilor. Her panic burned away at that moment. So she snarled her ears going flat her large eyes half lidded and claws out, the robe falling open as she advanced one step in front of The councilor and growled, “Your a disgrace to the service Osten! A vile perverted bastard. Drugged or not you revealed your true self. Your finished!” Contempt dripped from every word. All her instincts screamed at her to attack. Not to let him get the first strike. But she didn’t. She knew she didn’t have to. She could rely on Lt. Tavium and The XO. But if he did take the bait She was ready her claws the visible threat. But her martial art primarily used kicks and Osten would get a kick to his nards that would lift him off the deck if he attacked her.

Ooc: My previous post was in a split so taking the chance to be a bit more dramatic. Hope it’s not a issue.

Cadet Osten stopped his advance as Catt confronted him. He looked at her, smirked, and then started to laugh. A snicker at first, then a full-body chuckle as Wiles laughed right in her face. His eyes teared up as he looked Catt over, beside himself from the ridiculous sight in front of him. Wiles figured the most potent form of attack against his fellow cadet would be humiliation.

(Wiles Osten, Security Cadet)

OOC: As I tried to make clear in my previous post, Wiles wouldn’t have made his aggressive move towards Korczak until most everyone had left the sickbay. It sounded as if Lillian and Catt were leaving, and potentially Harkness as well if I hadn’t misread. I was under the impression that only sick-bay staff, Nijix, Korczak, and Richards were left at the point in time when the last section of my last post occurred. I did take Catt’s split-thread post into account when writing my last post, so changing things in that post does make things a lot different than I had planned. But I suppose I can roll with the punches.

“Cadet Bennet!” Max raised his voice from the door where he was about to head out after the decontamination process. “With me! And stop antagonizing Cadet Osten.”

As he waited for Catt to join him Max looked at Nijix. “Keep an eye on him. I don’t want what happened on the freighter to happen here on the Challenger.”

As the ruction and row began between Bennet and Osten, all heck broke lose. Some how through all the sedation, Richard’s eyes sprang wide open, whites having turned black with infection. Leaping forward the man grabbed at Torrirs and sunk his teeth deep into her skin where the shoulder meets the neck

“A plague a’ your house!” He cried, having apparently read his Shakespeare that morning, before he charged towards the door of sick bay and the rest of the ship, arms flailing like a mad man as he ran.

GM Wombat

“Oh!” Torrirs screeched, flinging the scalpel to the ground. Brushing their fingers along the nape of their neck, they met warmth. Blood. It burned. There was no time to panic, the cadet was already on the move.

“Richards!” They reached out, but they weren’t quick enough. “Harkness! Bennett–! Someone grab him!” They were among those closest to the door, and Torrirs prayed one of them heard their call.

Dr. Torrirs, CMO

“Shoot!” Max said as he ran after Richards.

=^= This is Commander Harkness. Seal off the deck 6. I need a containment team, NE Richards has escaped our isolation. =^=

“Richards, come back! We need to help you.”

Cmdr. Harkness - XO

As Richards bolted out the door, followed by the XO and several members of the Medical team, Korczak kept his eye on Osten. Shaking his head, his arms crossed across his chest and an air about him as if the chaos surrounding the immediate vicinity swept past him as a soft breeze in springtime, he said simply “Back on the bed, Cadet. It would be unbecoming for both of us if I had to make you.” There was a subtle shift in his demeanor, a look in his eyes that seemed out of place on the plain little man’s average face. A look that seemed almost… dangerous. “Now, Cadet. That’s an order.”

Korczak, CNS
