=/\= Preparing to head to the transporter Sir. TJCT out. =/\= This wasn’t what she wanted and wasn’t what she expected, but she certainly wasn’t going to argue, besides it got her out of medbay and away from the beast who looked more like an animal to be skinned and roasted over an open flame, then anything else, and as for the woman, well, she’d leave that unthought.

Cadet TJCT - Engineering

As the cadet left Sickbay, Tija took a deep breath and pushed her personal feelings to the back of her mind. She had more important things to do then dwell on TJCT’s behaviour, after all. Turning her head to look at Garth, she said, “Before we try your idea, let me check something. In the meantime, could you change the computer settings so that only -” she paused briefly and looked from Lieutenant Obiah Torriris to Cadet Wiles Osten, a deep frown on her pale forehead. “Lieutenant Torriris will be shocked.”

Turing her head again, she took her medical tricoder from her hip halter and opened it. Tija first checked if the changes she had had the computer make to the temperature and humidity behind the forcefield by lowering both to a level that won’t kill the patients, but hopefully reduced the metabolism and health of the parasite had any effect.

The doctor then moved the tricoder wand as close to the bite wound on the CMO’s neck as she forcefield allowed. She wondered if the moving bumps were the same as the tendrils that came out of Richard’s severed arm.

Garth nodded his head curtly as he changed back the adjustments the cadet had made so that only one patient at a time would undergo the procedure. “Of course,” he grumbled, “that was my intention, I had only meant that the computer should be ready to promptly administer the second round of treatment to Cadet Osten if the first proved successful for Lieutenant Torrirs.” Garth’s grumbling became a mutter as he continued, “Why the cadet would assume we wanted to perform a highly sensitive neurological procedure in a uniform way for two very different individuals is beyond me.”

Adinah caught the tail end of Lt. Garth’s comment with a slight wince. She’d been busy helping a few other officers with minor wounds, the little things that the acting CMO had little time for given the need to try and figure out how to heal the people currently infected, and had finally finished up. At hearing Garth’s harsh words, and not sure exactly what had happened, she paused however.

Garth stood at the console, eyes squinting to inspect the CMO’s neural scans. “I await your instruction, Doctor.”

(Lt. J.g. Garth, CSO)

The masses and tendrils seemed to slow down the longer the patients were exposed to the desiccated air, the writhing having pretty much stopped by the time Garth and Tija made their reassessment of the two patients after the cadet stormed out.

Adinah moved closer to see what was happening, eyes widening a bit as the strange tendrils began to slow. “Amazing,” she breathed out, doing her best to stay quiet until she knew what was going on better or had an opportunity to help.

Cadet Adinah (Medical)

Glancing over her shoulder, Tija nodded. “Indeed. And at any other time I would like to study these parasites more closely, but sadly time is off the essence right now.”She then pointed towards on of the cabinets to her right and added, “And just as a precaution, I’d like you to put on gloves, a surgical mask and glasses. We don’t know yet how much body fluid is needed to transmit this parasite and I’d rather not have another person infected.” Her forehead was deeply creased and she sighed softly as she turned back towards the CMO. Please help us safe them she thought, sending a prayer to prophets.

=/\= Computer, create an opening in the forcefield around the biobed with Lieutenant Torriris on that is large enough for my arm. =/\= Tija commanded. Once the opening was there, she put her arm through it and placed a neural stimulator on their forehead and then quickly withdrew it; if she was able to that is.

OOC: As you can see I left it open in my post to the GM whether this works or not. That way it’s out of my hand, just as it would be in real life. :)

~Lt. Tija, Asst. CMO

The field dropped and Tija was able to put the simulator on the CMO’s forehead with no major issues. Her forehead was cool to the touch but clammy like a fever had broken when her temperature was dropped.

Once she had withdrawn her arm again, Tija ordered quickly, =/\= Computer, close forcefield again. =/\= She then turned around to look at Gartenberg, Mika and Garth. “Cadet, we are going to try and disrupt the parasites seemingly fragile neural network with the neural stimulator. Lieutenant Garth will administer the shocks according to the calculations of Cadet Tanner. Cadet Mika, I want you to assist him and to keep an eye on Cadet Osten as well. In the meantime, I want you, Cadet Gartenberg, to assist me. Keep an eye on Lieutenant Torrirs’ biosigns while I monitor the parasite. I want both of you to keep us informed of any changes,” she said curtly. Turning her head to the left, she added, “And Priel, I want you to stand by with hyposprays and all in case something goes wrong.”

“Yes, ma’am,” the medical technician replied and pushed a tray with a variety of equipment closer to the biobed, yet sill far enough away so that she wouldn’t be in the way.

This was exactly the type of situation that Mika had always idealized in her head. Now, that she was in it, with all this happening around her and people she knew, she took it all back. Regular ship life over this any day. Still, she knew how to keep her head on straight. “Understood, ma’am,” she replied after she’d heard her orders, and she rushed off to get started.

Mika awaited Lieutenant Garth’s instruction for what she labelled ‘Task 1’, which was assisting the Lieutenant. In the meantime, she attended to ‘Task 2’, keeping an eye on Osten.
