Joseph Rainns walked into sickbay with a slight feeling of anxiety. His eyes scanned over multiple monitors flashing symbols and numbers he could not begin understand. As he took a few more steps into the room, he saw a table with a wide array of intimidating medical devices that reminded him of why he never even considered going into the medical field. Despite this unfamiliarity with medicine, Rainns had a nostalgic attraction to the pieces of technology. Seeing a medical tricorder he chuckled to himself as the memories of one of his sisters playing “doctor” and scanning Rainns with a “tricorder” flashed through his mind. He missed his family, although he had visited them one last time before boarding the USS Challenger. It was a bitter sweet moment for him, but he had ambitions, and if he was going to be something he had to leave his family behind for a time.

Shaking his head to refocus on his surroundings Rainns realized he hadn’t seen anybody yet. “Hello?” he called out. “Cadet Rainns, reporting for my boarding physical.”
He looked around anxiously. Rainns wanted the physical to be over with as soon as possible, he didn’t hate going to see the physician, but he was always scared that he would be diagnosed with some sort of sickness or other health problem that would ruin his career. His brother had told him that this made him a hypochondriac, and Joseph Rainns had not disagreed.

OOC: Welcome on the Challenger! That is a great post! Just one tiny little thing: don’t forget to sign off so that later one it is still clear who wrote what :) Otherwise: Keep at it!

IC:
At a nearby computer terminal a tall, somewhat lanky woman was working with her back towards the door. Her long blond hair was tied back into a neat braid. At the sound Rainns’ voice, she turned around and greeted him with a warm smile. “Welcome aboard, Cadet Rainns. I’m Ensign Yaba Priel, one of the medical technicians on the Challenger. Why don’t you have seat on one of the biobeds while I get one of the doctors to take care of your boarding evaluation?”

That said, NE Priel walked towards the doctor who seemed least busy and asked, “One of the new cadets just arrived; Cadet Rainns. Could you take care of his boarding evaluation?”

~NE Priel, medical technician

Rains nodded at the woman with a smile. “Thank you,” he said as he jumped up on the biobed. He didn’t think he was sick with anything but there was no way to tell until this physical was complete. He knew he was healthy, but the thought all of his hard work would be undone by some sort of villainous and unseen medical condition would not leave his mind. ‘Sure enough’, he reasoned with himself ‘the doctor will let you know, and you already know what he or she will say, so stop fretting.’

Cadet Joseph Rainns, security

OOC: I’m sorry for the delay. One of my cadets wanted to do your med eval, but then RL got in the way. So I’m taking over for her.

IC:
“Thank you for letting me know, Priel,” the CMO replied. The petite red-head pickup a PaDD and medical tricorder on her way over the Rainns. Her hair was pulled back into a neat pony tail, leaving not only her Bajoran earing, but also a thin, white scar on the right side of her face - from her temple to her ear - clearly visible.

“Hello Cadet and welcome on the Challenger. I’m Doctor Tija, the Chief Medical Officer,” she greeted Rainns with a small smile. “How are you feeling? Have there been any changes in your sleeping or eating pattern over the past six months? Or anything else I should be aware off?” Her voice and demeanour were level, professional and maybe a little reserved, but not unkind.

~Lt. Tija, CMO
