Making his way into Sickbay, K’sang stopped and began to look at the various panels in his line of sight. Things looked very different on a federation ship, “Cadet K’sang reporting for Medical Physical.”

OOC: Welcome aboard, Dustin! And don’t forget to sign off ;)

IC:
At the sound of the voice, a petite Bajoran with copper hair tied back into a ponytail looked up from a console and right at the cadet. Normally she let her cadets handle most of the medical evaluations, but with the high influx of new cadets they had all been very busy and so Tija didn’t even check if anyone else was available and decided to take care for this evaluation herself. “Welcome on board the Challenger,” she greeted Duras in friendly, if reserved way. Pointing at one of the empty biobeds, she added, “Please have a seat.”

While pulling up his medical file on a PaDD, Tija followed him. As she was standing right in front of Duras not only her numerous pale brown freckles were clearly visible, but also the thin white scar that ran along her hairline from her right temple to her right ear. “Over the course of the past six months, have you experienced any changes in your sleep or eating habits? Any injuries or illness that may not be noted in your medical file? And/or have you traveled outside of Federation space?” she asked right away; as always getting right to work.

~Lt. Tija, CMO

“Yes, no, and yes” he replied, carefully removing his baldric K’sang gently placed it at the foot of the bio bed before taking a seat. “As you know, Klingon being involved in Star Fleet is a rarity. As such a majority of my training took place on the fringes of KS-7 in the Donatu Sector, with several expeditions to the fringes of the Klach D’kel Brakt to collect data on Metaphasic Radiation. I believe you know it as the Briar Patch, dietary changes include replicated Gagh. Which tastes better with those granulated sodium crystals, also I may still show signs of elevated macrophage levels after joining my nephiew for his test of courage. I’ll spare you the details, but it involves drinking tea that is brewed from a plant with mild toxins.” Adjusting to sit up straight he added, “No new physical injuries to report.”

Tija nodded here and there and raised an eyebrow at the mention of the mildly toxic tea. There were some customs she never really understood, but as long as they had no lasting negative effects on people’s health, they had decided a long time ago not to comment on them. Instead she said, “I’ll note that in your medical file, just in case. But non of it sounds concerning. Though if you notice feeling unwell, change in the amount of time you sleep or a lack or increased appetite, please let me or one of the other doctors know.”

Before attaining that thousand mile stare at the bulkhead, K’sang took note of her scar. “I was under the impression Bajorans placed their name before station Doctor, unfortunately I didn’t catch yours. Or your d’ja pagh to make a guess.” Raising an eyebrow, he slightly tilted his head in her direction.

(K’sang, Cadet)

OOC: Ha! I knew I’d forgotten something. Introducing herself would have been a polite thing to do, lol

IC:
“My apologies and yes, we do. I’m Lieutenant Tija Aizala, the Chief Medical Officer on the Challenger,” she replied, her cheeks turning a faint pink. She also noticed the glace at her scar, but as always she didn’t volunteer any information. Apart from the fact that she didn’t like talking about herself, she was of the opinion that if people wanted to know something they should just ask.

~Lt. Tija, CMO

“Understood, Lieutenant Tija Aizala. Don’t take this the wrong way; however, I look forward to not seeing you very often under patient circumstance.” turning his attention to Tija, he offered a subtle nod. “Is their anything else that you would require?”

(K’sang, Cadet)

“I fully understand. And in fact, I’m always happy to see the crew as little as possible in my capacity as a doctor,” Tija replied and in answer to his questions then added, “Those were just some preliminary questions. I still have to conduct a full scan.” That said, she took her tricorder in her left hand and the little node in her right one. Tija then started to slowly and methodically move the node all the way from Duras’ head to his feet; her eyes constantly locked onto the small screen.

OOC: Since this is your character (and there is no GM in this type of thread) you should provide the results of the scan as we always try not to assume anything about another person’s character :)

~Lt. Tija, CMO

“I suppose that is understandable, nobody wants to be the person everyone shy’s away from simply for what you are.” K’sang took a breath and resumed focus on the bulkhead at the far end of the room.
The tricorder indicated a distinct lack of nanites used in first aid treatment over the years:

-Seven of Twenty-Three ribs indicated closed fractures with Three ribs slightly knitted back together slightly out of alignment, it coincided with epidermal scarring located just below his left armpit.
-Spiral hairline fracture on left clavicle.
-Seventeen epidermal lacerations located on torso, arms, and legs.

Two of which indicated deeper incision:
-First located Nineteen Centimeters to the right of the spinal column resulting in proliferate cellular repair to Third lung.
-Second indicates multiple closed fractures in Right Arm located on the Ulna, One inch below the elbow.

All had healed naturally and were documented in his medical file, a majority of his injuries were the direct result of an animal attack.

(K’sang, Cadet)

“I suppose, “Tija replied. “Though I was thinking more of the fact that if I don’t see someone here, it usually means they are healthy and uninjured. For while I love my job, I’m most happy when everyone is well.” A distinct frown appeared on the doctor’s face as she looked closely at the tricorder readings. “It seems you’ve had your fair share of injuries over the years. Do any of those cause you any lingering problems like pain?”

~Lt. Tija, CMO

He chuckles, “Show me a Klingon without scars and you’ll be presenting a newborn.” He pauses to think about Tija’s question, “Not really, occasional stiffness in my side that’s easily treated with a good stretch and physical exercise.” Turning his attention toward the CMO he looked at her scar once more “It would seem we both are well versed in injuries.”

-K’sang, Cadet

“Good,” Tija replied with a nod. “But if anything should change about that let us know.” Brushing the fingertips of her right hand subconsciously along her scar, she continued softly, “That we do.” While she was looking at Duras, her gaze was unfocused and she seemed to be seeing someone or something other than the young Klingon in front of her.

~Lt. Tija, CMO

Giving an almost sympathetic expression K’sang averted his gaze, “Some wounds can’t be found with a tricorder, I apologize if I’ve overstepped my place” Sitting up straight, he let her continue her evaluation un abided by further conversation on this topic. As his thoughts began to wander he was left with the image of Er’ohl calling his mother’s forehead smooth before beaming him aboard the Challenger, touching his own ridges in response he tried to change the subject. “What is it that Cadets do for recreation around here?”

-K’sang, Cadet

Returning to the here and now, Tija blinked a couple of times before eventually saying, “I don’t think I’m the right person to answer that question. I suggest asking one of the other cadets. Also, there is no need to apologize, Cadet. The scar on my face comes with a long story I haven’t really talked about in a long time. And you are right, there are many wounds my tricorder will never detect.” Her voice falter slightly at the end and she took a deep breath, internally chastising herself for it. She didn’t want to show those internal wounds, yet deep down she also knew that if she opened up more, other people - the cadets in particular - might find it easier to open up as well and find a way to live in a healthy way with any possible trauma in their pasts. But was she ready for sharing even part of her story outside of the safety of the Counsellor’s office?
