Cadet Fixem ran her hand over the smooth side of one of the Challenger’s Valhalla-class runabouts. She’d heard that the XO was tasked with making sure that it was ready to evacuate the miners if needed and now, it was just a matter of waiting for him and whatever cadets planned to help out…

Nameless Cadet Fixem

Balling his fist tightly K’sang glared at the turbolift door, his orders to assist with preparing shuttles for evacuation efforts IF they were needed. “To be placed aside like some… Va Qa’Hom! I am MORE than a mindless t’gla meant to move boxes.” He was thankful to be alone for the moment as he pressed his other hand against the bulkhead, with a sigh he closed his eyes and ran through what he was told once more. “No, these are not the excuses of a Tahkeck. A captain would not send her Second to oversee such a tasking without reason.”

Regaining his composure, K’sang waited for the chime signaling his arrival on the shuttlebay deck before standing straight. As the doors opened he could see people moving about the launch deck where he would need to quickly familiarize himself with which zones he would be assigned to if he were going to be of any use and proceeded to find where cadets would be mustering for individual assignment.
OOC:
-Va Qua’hom = Small Rodent generally considered to be useless (va) used as a lesser degree of anger or insult.
-T’gla = animal native to Q’onos known for being mindless
-Tahkeck = Strong Klingon insult, “the procrastinator” or ever planning and never acting.

-K’sang, Cadet

Mara had already found herself on the Shuttlebay Deck along with everyone else, turning around and smiling at K’sang as soon as she spotted him.
“K’sang! Hello! You got assigned here too then?”
K’sang had been the first, and so far only friend Mara had made since her arrival on the USS Challenger. She liked him, he seemed nice. The young cadet wasn’t too sure what she was meant to be doing, but figured all would be revealed soon, and so she stood there, keeping kind of close to K’sang.

Cadet Fixem waved to the two new arrivals. “Hello there!” she greeted them enthusiastically. “The XO is on his way down, but we need to make sure this runabout can withstand traversing those storms a few times in the event we need to get everyone evacuated. Of course, if anyone has any ideas of how we can get transporters to function, that could work too, but I think that’s a lost cause…” Her voice trailed off as she offered a shrug and then brightened again. “Any ideas where we can start?”

Cadet Fixem

Mara looked at Cadet Fixem for a second, looking around and thinking to herself. Fixem was right, the transporters were pretty much busted.
“We should probably check the systems to see if the runabout is working properly, if not we should rectify the situation as fast as we can. They’re counting on us to get this right”
Unsure, Mara went back to thinking, was she right? Her father always did say that was Mara’s biggest issue: she always managed to make herself think twice about what she was thinking, never always sure whether or not she was right, but needing to always be right in at least one way.
