“The stage area has been set up to run independently of this simulation, so you may do what you need there,” she responded to the cadet.

Davis, CO

“Perfect, thanks!” Tandra said, and headed off stage. It was moments later that she returned, dressed in what could only be described as a martial arts uniform. Of course, she could’ve performed dressed as she usually did, but she figured it would be cooler if she wore the traditional outfit. And she hadn’t worn it it, because she wished it to be a surprise. The belt on her uniform was brown, that she was very good, but had not yet passed a black belt test. She had created a hologram to spar with her, a generic person, a little larger than she, probably 5‘6’‘ and 150 pounds, male, opposing Mika’s 5‘4’‘, 125 pounds. wearing the same outfit as her.

Tandra took a deep breath and said, “Hello! In my act, I’m going to be showing you my skill in the martial art of Judo.” Then she turned to the hologram partner. And then the fight began. Quickly they were in a match where one would grab the other, and then be knocked away or blocked, but the stalemate did not last long, and Mika knocked the training dummy off balance. And then she got in beneath him, grabbing his shirt, and put her weight into a through that landed the training dummy on the mat. All in all, the match was fairly short, perhaps a few minutes. Normally, she would go on to do another round, but Mika did not want to take too long. Instead simply stopped the training dummy and they both turned to look at the audience and bowed. Then, the hologram faded away, and Mika walked off stage, to return to the audience once again in her normal outfit.

Emmy watched the cadet’s movements with interest, enjoying the different physical dynamics between the two as they engaged in judo. She applauded sincerely when the. match ended and smiled at the cadet. “That was very well done, perhaps you can instruct others at some point.” As the simulation faded away on the stage, she glanced at the PaDD in her hand that contained the list of cadets signed up for the event. “Cadet Duras, you are next.”

Tandra nodded quickly. “I would be willing to teach anyone who wants to learn,” She said, and then she took her seat silently so the next Cadet could perform.

In his time aboard DS7, K’sang discovered an art form that felt similar to the wonder of cursing. For the coming battle he would need every bit of it, he thumbed the hilt of his microphone as his pulse quicked. Nearly time… the world seemed to slow down and fall to muted tones as it would in that killing moment. It had been too long since K’sang felt excitement such as this…

When it was his turn to make his way onto the stage he turned to the gathering and bared his teeth as he postured. “Computer, run Project Greatness”

The lights dimmed in the room as speakers boomed with a percussive base, his voice dropping to a a growling chant for the main chorus:

“Droppin down ta the ground like no, Mo-Fo can.
Spittin out theory-tricorder in mah hand.
Droppin down ta the ground like no, Mo-Fo can.
Spittin out theory-tricorder in mah hand.

When mah boots hit the deck, ya all chant QAPLA! Cuz my lyrics they be lat-num… Yo faces… Shock n Awe.

Droppin down ta the ground like no, Mo-Fo can.
Spittin out theory-tricorder in mah hand.
Droppin down ta the ground like no, Mo-Fo can.
Spittin out theory-tricorder in mah hand.

Now I be singin, the one and on-ly…
Cuz i’m the greatest, you cant approach me…
All the ladies wanna see be, all the boys wanna be me.
Phasers set to stun, I’m almost done.

Droppin down ta the ground like no, Mo-Fo can.
Spittin out theory-tricorder in mah hand.
Droppin down ta the ground like no, Mo-Fo can.
Spittin out theory-tricorder in mah hand.

This be the last, but not the end of me. Because I serve, a great dichotomy .
Gonna be preachin my ism, so that all of you know.
Beam me up Scotty… I stole this show.”

Promptly as his lyrics ended, so did the music. K’sang dropped the microphone onto the stage like area and promptly walked off to the side.

Emmy’s first reaction was to sit blankly staring at the now vacant stage. She wasn’t entirely sure what she had just seen and heard… as she slowly processed the last few minutes, a smile graced her usually neutral features and then she found herself laughing a bit… just enough such that her brown eyes filled with the slightest hint of tears. That had been quite the performance, she thought to herself, as she forced herself to survey the room.

“Are there any other cadets who would like to perform? Please come forward.”

Davis, CO

(OOC: You’ll see that, since the thread moved on before I had a chance to post, I inserted Davis’ response between two paragraphs up above. It’s important to make sure that the response fits and doesn’t alter anything in the rest of the thread; otherwise, it wouldn’t much make sense in the end!)

Tandra applauded for K’sang’s performance, thinking that a Klingon rapping was probably the coolest thing she’d seen in a while, and then again, she sat quietly awaiting the next performance.

Mara walked onto the stage, holding a rather small… Guitar? Bag. She looked at Emmeline and spoke softly
“I-I’m here for the talent show?”
It was evident that the young cadet was scared. She was glad to see K’sang, a friendly face was definitely what she needed right now.

~ Cadet Mara Oxton {Engineer}

K’sang gave Mara a subtle yet reassuring nod, “Just stop overthinking and do it.” he said quietly.
-K’sang, Science Cadet

Emmy gestured to the empty stage. “Go on, Cadet,” she instructed. “Let’s see what you can do.” She sat back in her chair and folded her arms across her chest, keeping her gaze on the latest entrant to their talent show.

Davis, CO

Mara took out a ukulele from the bag she was carrying, and plucked the strings to check if they were the right chords, she smiled and nodded back at K’sang.
Stringing the chords she went up to the microphone and started singing, though the young cadet began singing from the 3rd verse rather than the first. It was purposeful on her part.

” Let’s say we up and left this town
And turned our future upside down
We’ll make pretend that you and me
Lived ever after happily

She asked me, Son, when I grow old
Will you buy me a house of gold?
And when your father turns to stone
Will you take care of me? ”

Her voice was soft, and always in the right key. Like a great singer who’s talents were never shown, and never found out. It was a huge help that when growing up, her parents signed her up for singing lessons, and choir. She then shakily continued to strike the chords on the small instrument.

” Oh, and since we know that dreams are dead
And life turns plans up on their head
I will plan to be a bum
So I just might become someone

She asked me, Son, when I grow old
Will you buy me a house of gold?
And when your father turns to stone
Will you take care of me? “

Mara stopped playing the ukulele and held it under her arm, bowing slightly she looked at Emmeline.

~ Cadet Mara Oxton {Engineer}

As the cadet finished her performance, Emmy had a soft smile with her usually tensed features relaxed. She had much enjoyed the soft music that Oxton provided. Within a moment, though, her normal features were back and she gave the cadet a sharp nod and then looked back to the crowd.

“Anyone else?”

Davis, CO

OOC: The lyrics are the pronunciation

“I’ll go!” Douglas carrying his cello case to the stage before stating to the computer “Stool” and taking a seat on the stool after it showed up.
Unpacking and Preparing the cello and after stating “Play Douglas Piano 36.”
A theme plays and the cello follows.

“Shid ald akwentans bee firgot,

“An sheerly yil bee yur pynt-staup!

“An thers a han, my trustee feer!

And we’ll tak a richt[c] gude-willie-waucht,”

Douglas stood stretching the cello on his left hand and gave a bow. Before taking a seat again.
