“Finally…” Rodrick sighted for himself as he glimpsed the caduceus on the door of the sickbay. He didn’t enjoy looking for it on the wrong deck for almost 15 minutes. Not that he really cared about this waste of time, especially because he planned to be early, but he was angry of how unprofessional he probably looked, walking around the corridors…

He was irritated but also reassured. He looked behind him. Turbolift 4, good to know for next time he thought. He slowed down, trying to calm down and to forget this incident.
=^= “Computer, what time is it”.
“It is ten o five hours”, the computer answered. A slight grimace appeared on the cadet face. Almost in time he regretted.

At least he was not worried about the medical exam. He had always been in good health. Quite confident, he walked thought the door of the sickbay, then stopped and looked around him, searching for the CMO.

OOC: Welcome aboard! That’s a great post! :)

IC:
Not far from the entrance stood a tall and slender Trill, her long blond hair tied back in a neat French braid. At the sound of the doors opening NE Priel had turned around and was thus looking straight at Cadet Baker. “You must be one of the new cadets. Welcome on board the Challenger! I hope you had a good trip here,” she greeted im with a warm smile. “I’m Ensign Yaba Priel, one of the medical technicians on board. Why don’t you have a seat on one of the biobeds, while I get one of the doctors to take care of your medical evaluation?”

~NE Priel, medical technician

OOC: Thx a lot! Happy to be here!

IC:

As soon as ensign Priel took charge of him, Baker relaxed a little. “Thank you Sir. Sorry for being late Sir, I… got lost” he apologized. After sitting on the biobed, he observed the distinctive spots of the trill ensign. Rodrick were as much fascinated as intimidated by Trills. Is she joined he could not help thinking. It was difficult to imagine that one person could hold several lifetimes of memories. He stared at the ensign while she was leaving. Was there any way to see if she was joined?

Finally he roused himself from his thoughts about Trills and looked at the sickbay around him. Was there something different with the light here? It looked… clearer. He would also have imagined more activity in the sickbay. Back at the academy, they were always a lot of people waiting in sickbay. Now no one needs a certificate to miss the boring classes of Commander P’Trak he speculated, and smiled at this thought.

Cadet Mika headed toward Cadet Baker. “Hello, I’m Cadet Mika. You must be Cadet Baker?” She asked, looking down at a PaDD. As she headed toward the biobed Baker head sat on, she picked up a tricorder. It was a bit of a quieter day, that day, and she was glad to have something to do. “First time on a starship?” She asked ass he saw him looking around the sickbay.

~ Cadet Tandra Mika, Doctor

OOC: Sorry for the late answer I had a crazy week.

IC:
Rodrick woke up from his daydream. “Nice to meet you, cadet Mika.” He said. “Yes first time indeed, how did you noticed?” he asked. He looked at the cadet interacting with the medical equipment. Rodrick always had been amazed by how complicated they looked. He never understood anything to the information they provided. He was wondering what would the boarding physical look like.

-Cdt Rodrick Baker (Security)

OOC: Totally fine! Life happens and should always come first, aha

IC:
“It’s all in the way you look at the equipment. Reminds me a bit of the way kids look around, with wonder and amazement,” She said, and then she smiled. “Trust me, you’ll get used to it all pretty quick.” She read through his file quickly on the PaDD, and then asked, “Is there anything I’d need to know that wouldn’t be listed here? Anything like changes in sleeping or eating habits, any illness… or, um, trips outside the Federation?”

~ Cadet Tandra Mika, Doctor

Rodrick smiled. “Oh yes, I… Medical equipment had never been my strong suit at the academy.” The next question surprised Baker. “Trips outside the Federation? Absolutely not. After leaving the academy on earth I just came back home on the Vega colony, and then joined the Challenger.” He thought for a few seconds then added: “I’m not ill and everything is fine… I’m a bit tense but I think it’s nothing to be worried about”. Rodrick was curious by nature, so he asked: “Since when are you on this ship?”

-Cdt Rodrick Baker (Security)

OOC: In this post, my character is scanning your character, so since there isn’t a GM in this thread, you get to decide what the scanner reads :)

IC:
Mika nodded. “It is a bit overwhelming at first. I switched courses from Science to Medicine,” she told him. “Alright, all noted. Now, just to scan you and make sure everything looks good.” She picked up a tricorder and began moving the little node down his body, slowly, eyes fixed on the screen. “How long have I been here? A few months. You’ll like it here, everyone’s been great,” She said, and smiled. “You’re… a security officer, right?”

~ Cadet Tandra Mika, Doctor

Baker kept silent while Mika was using her tricorder. The tricorder didn’t reveal anything worrying, even if Rodrick’s blood pressure was slightly high, as well as the glycaemia. “Yes, I’m a security officer, and it should reassure you: no risk I cause a warp core breach by pressing the wrong button. You would say it’s not possible? Well… It is. Luckily it was on an holo-simulation at the academy.” Rodrick laughed. Then he added: “Why did you leave the science department?”

-Cdt Rodrick Baker (Security)

Mika laughed as well. “Yes, engineering makes no sense to me,” she said, as she finished scanning him and recorded the results. High blood pressure was usually expected at these physicals, because most everyone was anxious or stressed during them. Other findings were noted and she put down the tricorder.

“Why? Because I was still just learning at the Academy then, and I couldn’t stand the classes. I thought about dropping out entirely, I was so miserable,” she told him, to address his last question. “Obviously, the Science track just wasn’t for me.” And it was no exaggeration - she had no desire to ever return to science. Her calling was medicine. She was very happy in her current track.

~Cadet Tandra Mika, Doctor

Baker nodded. “Yes I get what you mean. I was not bad in science class at the academy but I would not have specialized in it. Science sounds too… formal and academic for my taste. Anyway, the most important is that you found your path.” Baker stared at Mika, trying to deduce from her facial expressions if everything was fine with his health condition, not that he was really worried. He smiled and asked: “So tell me cadet Mika, am I dying right now or will I have time to taste the replicated food of this ship? I heard that it was as tasteless as it was at the academy.”

-Cdt Rodrick Baker (Security)

Her facial expression was a smile, she seemed… quite happy. She was one to enjoy… even the more mundane tasks, and she liked that she got to greet many of the new Cadets by handling their physicals. “You’ll have all the time in the world to try and put some taste into the replicator food,” she said with a smile, which had turned into almost a playful smirk. “Your results look absolutely fine, you’re fit for duty.”

~ Cadet Tandra Mika, Doctor

“Well that’s good news” said Rodrick. He did not expect anything could have gone wrong but it was still pleasant to hear this kind of news from doctors. He only had minor health issues when he was younger, but he still had this weird feeling when he was examined, a small and illogical apprehension. “Do you need anything else?” he asked.

-Cdt Rodrick Baker (Security)

“Nope, nothing else. Unless you have anything you want to ask, you can be on your way,” Mika told him. That was actually one reason Mika liked being a doctor. She thought she would know if something were wrong. Though, if there ever were something wrong with Mika’s health, she’d probably ignore it.

~ Cadet Tandra Mika, Doctor

Baker feigned to think then said “No, I think I’m all good then. Thx a lot for your time doctor”. While he was standing up, he added: “We will probably see us again anyway right doctor… I’m sorry I forgot your name. I’m really bad remembering names.” He looked and was sorry. He hopped she wasn’t offended.
