Tija listened closely and carefully to every word Ressis said, while also taking in his body language and the tone of his voice. At the mention of the explosion, part of her mind went straight into triage mode. With explosions came certain types of injuries. Then, of course, there were the type of injuries related to trauma due to blunt force, such as being hit by rocks when a mine caved in. However, apart form a small frown, sign of concentration in this case, she didn’t show much of an outward reaction at all. There were a couple of questions she had. Yet she also thought she should let the other team, the one heading into the mine in particular, know what they had just been told. After a brief moment of deliberation, she decided to ask her questions - or at least one of them - first. Looking Ressis straight into the eyes, she asked, “But what, Sir?”

~Lt. Tija, CMO

“She is missing,” he said bluntly as he walked over to one of the hot plates and motioned a little further into the shelter, pouring himself some coffee made the old fashioned way. “The boss is in there along with our Political Officer,” the last few words said with disdain.

“Lobac is a representative of the Ferengi company that owns a significant interest in the operations here,” he grunted again under his breath. “I suspect what happened was someone was too cheap to buy proper safety equipment!” he yelled over his shoulder before going back to the CMO, “Anyway… Some of the folks heard a grinding sound followed by an explosion. Safety issue or not, nothing down there should have exploded. For some reason it blew up one of the shafts and people said we were under attack. I didn’t believe it at first and then a second explosion. Borefar went in to see what was going on and to find the other miners and we haven’t heard from her sense.”

Lobac, for his part, was in the back on a cot whining about his broken leg, but a quick scan by a medic would show he was perfectly fine.

Cadet Schweitzer approached Lobac and checked him for injuries. He had a few abrasions and contusions from flying debris. Schweitzer quickly attended those while Lobac restated his main complaint about his leg, which Lobac claimed was broken. A quick scan revealed that the bone was intact but bruised due to blunt force trauma caused by a chunk of concrete from the wall. Schweitzer applied a dressing and gave him a hypospray analgesic for the pain. Lobac continued to complain, but Schweitzer knew that his pain was mostly psychosomatic now.

OOC: Excellent post, John. A couple of pointers for the future, I didn’t say how he hurt is leg (If it was even hurt at all) and you don’t know if Lobac would continue to whinge

IC: The Ferengi diverted his pain from the leg to the spot where the hypospray was pressed against his body. “Oh you hurt me!” he whinned, “I can’t believe they sent a cadet to treat me, ME of all people. I want to see the chief immediately! She will know if something is wrong. I demand only the best care.”

Riesse sighed and swirled his coffee with a smirk. “See what I mean? Lazy git doesn’t do anything but moan about how he wasn’t made for places like this.”

Schweitzer turned to Lobac. “You are receiving the best care,” Schweitzer told him evenly. I may be a cadet, but I am as well trained as any doctor here. “What could I be doing that I am not doing now?”
