Doors hissed and Cadet Stern stepped in confidently. The light still bothered him. Only thing he thought of was his bunk. But first things first.

“Hello” said he looking around the seemingly empty room.

“Anybody here?”

OOC: Welcome aboard Jim! This a good first post! Just one tiny thing: We always sign off at the end of our posts so that as the thread continues it is easy to tell who wrote what. One example of how to do it you can see at the end of my post :)

IC:
At the sound of the voice the head of a Bajoran woman with copper read hair appeared from behind a computer terminal. Pushing herself to her, she placed what looked like the remainder of a glass flask on the console and stepped out from behind it. She was a petite, fair skinned woman with numerous pale freckles all over her face, who appeared fairly young, though the two pips on her collar indicated that she was one of the higher ranking officers on the ship. Her long hair was tied back in a French braid, leaving not only her earring clearly visible, but also the thin white scar that ran along the hairline on the right side of her face from her temple to her ear. She smiled at Stern and said, “Welcome aboard the Challenger, Cadet. I’m Lieutenant Tija, the Chief Medical Officer. I assume you are here for your boarding evaluation?”

~Lt. Tija, CMO

“Indeed, Lieutenant, I was sent by my superior. Standard procedure, I suppose”

Jim took a seat by the examination desk. He crossed his hands waiting for some uncomfortable questions or instructions.

The Medic approached him and started scanning with her tricorder. Jim turned his head towards the travel bag. It’s not that he didn’t want to look into her big green eyes. He could have stared on her scar and her bajoran earring making her feel uncomfortable, but to what goal? There is a reason he avoided eye contact with her kind. A personal law that kept him safe and sane for a long time - young people are trouble - avoid young people at all cost.

“Anything poisonous you had in that flask? I hope I didn’t startle you.“

He held his breath for a moment while she got too close. He drunk some Aldeberan Whiskey on the last resupply like 6 hours ago. Great first impression James, well done. Last time he shaved, he didn’t remember.

All being well, he expressed gratitude for her time and departed towards his quarters being glad that it ended.

“Hew…Young people are trouble. I don’t need trouble. I have enough of it”. He thought while following the signs in the empty lane.
