The Chief Science Officer turned to Cadet McMorran at the station next to him. “How much experience do you have with transporter technology? Usually I’d trust the operations officer to handle the transport process, but with the complicated nature of the endeavor, I’d like you to assist him with making adjustments to compensate for the storm’s influence when the time comes.”

(Lt. Garth, CSO)

Cadet McMorran turned to the CSO with keen eyes. While continuing running her scans, she was confident that she was merely scraping the barrel for further useful information from the probe. “I have some practise dealing with intricacies of that nature sir”, the answered in a tone suggesting her confidence and comfort in her current position had grown greatly during her short time on the bridge. “Shall I join them in the transporter room to make preparations?”

The Chief Engineer’s voice came over the bridge’s comm. He had opened a channel to the ship and the other away teams.

=^= This is Lt. Vras. It is possible some sensors may have been tampered with that allowed for a mine explosion to take place. We are still reviewing the circumstances and the current status of the mine sensors. It is possible this may have been a deliberate act. Take all caution while in the mine. =^=

Emmy listened as the away team communicated with one another and acknowledged the information from Garth. “Establish and maintain a transporter lock on the away team in case we need to get them out of there,” she instructed. It made her feel significantly better to be able to have that backup plan, at least for now.

Garth put out a hand to stop McMorran from leaving the bridge. “Make what calculations you can from this station, cadet. I’ll need your help here if the circumstances change. When the time comes and we receive the order from the captain to prepare for transport, head to the main transporter room.” He nodded confirmation at Captain Davis and looked at McMorran. “Looks like you’ll be getting some more practice with operations, cadet.”

The tellarite leaned down to squint at the readings he had been previously inspecting, potentially trying to make sure there was no space for acknowledgement that he had admitted that he trusted McMorran for such an important task, nor that he had so plainly said that he might need her help.

(Lt. Garth, CSO)

The sides of Emmy’s pressed together lips quirked up slightly as Garth’s attention briefly rested on her. She offered a slight nod of acknowledgement.

Davis, CO

Cadet McMorran outwardly smiled as Garth turned away providing an outlet for the glow of immense relief that filled her. Garth may have been offish but Aili respected his lack of false warmth. The juxtaposition of his manner the much needed validation his words had just provided her with only served to emphasise his sentiment. Calming herself, Aili began turning back to her station, quickly suppressing her expression by pursing her lips as her peripheral vision caught the captain facing her and Garth. Carefully avoiding making eye contact with Davis, Aili approached the console she had worked at before. Reconfiguring it for her new task, she put herself in contact with the operations officer in the transporter room and began planning their collaboration.
