The ten separate feeds showed the current state of affairs in those sections, the milling about of cadets and low ranking officers bustling about to get their jobs done.

Assuming that the time stamps were pulled up, the time marks matched up with what was seen through the door in the hot tub room door. Pey could be seen wandering into frame, knocking on the door and then going in. Holmman was seen some time later going into section C and then not seen again. The next thing on the feed is the security detail entering the Hot tub room. There were seven hours were there was no one in the hall, suspicious.

GM Wombat

“Cadet, if you knew everything, there wouldn’t be a need for an Academy training cruise,” Sapeth said matter of factly.

As he looked at the security feeds, it was suspiciously empty. There should have at least been crew walking through the hallway, even in the middle of the night.

“Computer, analyze security footage, look for repeating patterns that would indicate that the security feed has been looped.”

Lt Sapeth - CE

Anders appreciated the somewhat blunt, yet sincere response from the Chief Engineer. He smiled to himself, That’s a Vulcan for you he said internally. “Anything I can help with while the analysis is running Lieutenant?”

-Cadet Kyle Anders: Security-

OOC: Make sure every once and a while you trim off some of the older posts, it helps keep these threads from getting to long. And you know, especially annoying if you are looking at them on your phone! Everyone has there method for determining when to snip posts. For me, I like to go back to a major point or event, and use that as a place to start. You probably want to make sure to leave information that will be important in the next couple of posts, if that changes how far back you go. For example, in this case I went back to right when we started talking about the video.

IC:
“What about the other access points to the Executive Officer’s quarters? What did the access logs for those say? Because one does not simply disappear into thin air Cadet.”

Sapeth looked over at the security footage, trying to see if he could note any repetition in the footage.

Lt Sapeth - CE

(OOC: I know, snipping isn’t something I’ve got my head round yet, much obliged for the tip)

IC:

“As far as we can tell sir, the only access point used was the front door. I can go back down there if you think another scan would be beneficial?”

-Cadet Kyle Anders: Security-

“Not at this moment Cadet. Though I do believe it might be worthwhile for us to visit the quarters after we finish reviewing the footage. While we wait for the computer to finish the analysis, what did the investigation find related to the bodies, and the cause of death?”

Lt Sapeth - CE

Kyle referred to a PADD he had been making notes on throughout the process, “Cause of death is believed to have been strangulation sir. Lieutenants McMorran and Mika also discovered that the body of Ensign Pey had been flooded with benzodiazepines. As far as I am aware, the source of the benzodiazepines is yet to be found.” Anders could not escape the feeling that the Chief Engineer was testing his recall skills, he appreciated the challenge all the same.

The computer chimed back after a couple of minutes. “Analysis indicates that there has been no looping,” the flat voice returned before adding, “Some images have been digitally altered.”

GM Wombat

“Effort should be made into identifying the source of the benzodiazepines in the Ensigns body. While it may seem like a minute detail, it is often those details that can be the key to solving the puzzle.”

As the results of the analysis came back, Sapeth looked them over. The digital altering would make sense, as the corridors should not have been that empty. “Computer, highlight digitally altered areas. Can they be recovered?”

Lt Sapeth - CE

Kyle nodded and said, “I believe Lieutenants Mika, McMorran and the Science and Medical Teams are currently working to identify the source sir.” As Sapeth gave the command to the computer, Anders swivelled on his heal to watch the screen intently.

-Cadet Kyle Anders: Security-

The computer thought for a long time before it came back. “Negative. Unknown data removed.”

The situation was like an empty glass sitting next to a pitcher of water. One could assume that the water was meant for the glass, but just as easily was the water meant for the picture. Shadows and inferences were all that remained on the data.

GM Wombat

Kyle clicked his fingers excitedly, “Sir, I have an idea if I may? Computer, is there a record of who gained access to the XO’s quarters in the past 24 hours?”

-Cadet Kyle Anders: Security-

Just as Sapeth and Anders were about to receive the computer’s response, the XO walked into Engineering (OOC: I’m guessing with the Captain?)

Part of Eric thought he should go to sickbay. He still had a large blank in his memories, and the Captain’s medical scan indicated he still had trace sedatives in his system. But it was more important to get the relevant information into the right hands. Maybe once he knew everyone was working on trying to find the killer and the crew was safe, he could stop by Sickbay…

..Eric hoped the fatigue didn’t show on his face.

The XO spotted Lieutenant Sapeth with one of his cadets. “Lieutenant. The Captain and I have discovered a tricorder that appears to be tampered with,” Eric said, handing over the first tricorder he used to scan himself. “This was the tricorder I retrieved from the medical kit in the guest quarters. When I logged the scans into the computer, it indicated I had a clean bill of health. A few minutes later, a different tricorder revealed I had trace sedatives in my system.”

-Cmdr. Eric Holmman, XO

Kyle caught the eye of Commander Holmann and couldn’t help but feel slightly uncomfortable, XO or not, he’s still a suspect He nodded respectfully and turned back to wait for the Computer’s response.

-Cadet Kyle Anders: Security-

Sapeth raised an eyebrow as the Commander held out the tricorder. “Sir, I must point that it is highly unusual for a suspect in an investigation to be handling evidence,” he said as he took the tricorder.

“Cadet, continue your investigation. And see if our suspects missed anything when they altered the video. Check for inadvertent shadows, or reflections in displays, that were missed.”

Moving over to one of the diagnostic stations, Sapeth placed the tricorder down on top. “Commander, was the lack of sedatives in the scan the only difference between the two scans?” As he waited for a response, he started a standard diagnostic of the tricorder, and entered the receipt of the tricorder into the evidence log.

Lt Sapeth - CE

The slightly smaller frame of Emmy stepped out from behind Holmann. “Commander Holmann is no longer a suspect,” she responded to his confusion, tersely. She noted the diagnostic and refrained from pushing further on the CE, realizing that he needed more information from his own investigations before he could provide anything useful to her.

Davis, CO

Kyle swivelled and noticed the Captain standing behind Commander Holmann, “Captain on Deck!” Every officer dropped whatever they were doing and turned to face the CO, standing at attention.

-Cadet Kyle Anders: Security-

Sapeth inclined his head towards the Captain. “Understood Captain,” he said as he made a mental note of one of the Cadets on the far side of Engineering. The cadet who had dropped an eps relay in their exuberance, and was now going to require an additional 4 hours to do additional diagnostics to make sure the relay was not damaged.

Lt Sapeth - CE

OOC: Hope this is a good place to try and jump into the main sim. If not let me know

IC: Dael looked down at the EPS relay he had dropped. ‘Margarine thumbs’, he thought he had heard humans call it, but he had been so focused on his work that the sudden rushing influx of thoughts from everyone throughout the room at the Captain and XO’s arrival and the shout from the security officer had startled him out of his concentration. He glanced down at the relay and it seemed to still be intact, but he knew the drop had added a good bit of work time to make sure nothing had been damaged. By the Four Deities, way to make a good impression Dael he thought as he picked the relay off the bulkhead and placed it on the nearby work counter. Snapping back to attention, he focused on the surface thoughts that had caused the startled rush into his mind, something about a crime and suspects, and the possible tampering of a tricorder and ships internal recordings. I really need to get out of the Jefferie’s Tubes more often he thought. Dael took in the scene at the far end of the deck with the senior officers and security cadet, noted the tricorder on the diagnostics table and was curious if he had anything to add to help whatever was happening on the ship. Focus Dael, the Captain is right there. You already dropped one thing today, let’s just try to stay at attention and not get ahead of ourselves

-Cadet Stadi, Engineering

While the Captain was hijacking an investigation, the Cadet’s querry came on screen showing the usual and known culprits. Mostly the security team and commander Holmann.

As for the tricorder, it appeared that the blood analyizer module had become cracked during some sort of accidental fall (OOC: Read GM’s incompetence). Nothing that a first year cadet couldn’t fix and nothing to indicate malfeasance.

GM Wombat

There’s got to be a way of cracking this, Kyle thought to himself. Then it came to him, “Computer, transfer the footage from the these cameras to Holodeck Two. /=\Anders to Lieutenant Rainns, if you’re not busy I’d appreciate if you could meet me on Holodeck Two, I have an idea/=.“

-Cadet Kyle Anders: Security-

As Sapeth’s team was busily moving around Engineering with their respective tasks, Eric felt he would only get in the way at this time. And he really did need to check in with Sickbay. He spoke up during the pause in the conversation between Davis and Sapeth. “Captain, I’m going to go by Sickbay and get checked out. Between the memory loss and the sedatives, I think I need to see what is going on…”

(OOC: This will also help reduce the number of people posting in this thread! :) )
