Main Sim - Sickbay

Once he’d finished his diagnostic, Caelian could feel the frown etched on his face. Someone had tampered with the system, but why? Thinking quickly, he set to work isolating the influenced system. When he was nearly done, he tapped his comm badge.

=^= Cadet Weir to Chief Zenzgii, =^= he murmured as the main ODN conduit dimmed in his grip, =^=I’ve located an anomaly in the sickbay sensors. I’m attempting to isolate it now.=^=

As the various displays and lights began to read as he’d intended, he scooped up the tricorder from his kit and began to monitor the bugged system components. He hoped that he’d trapped it for analysis, but he wasn’t naive enough to believe he’d thought of everything. If someone was smart enough to set this up, they could have bugged other systems as well. Another few moments, and the panel hummed back to life.

“I’ve bypassed Sickbay’s main sensors and rerouted them to secondary systems,” he called over his shoulder to the other officers, eyes firmly fixed on the tricorder’s readings. “You may want to retry any queries you’ve made recently while I finish up here. Whatever tipped you off to the problem, it may help me figure out if there are any other systems I need to check.”
—Caelian Weir, Cadet—

The secondary sensors revealed the same results as the primary sensors. The only logical conclusion was that the sensor arrays were working just fine, it was something else. They were picking something up, after all.

Caelian stared hard at his tricorder. That’s odd, he thought, standing. The secondary systems are showing the same data.

He moved the device back and forth in the air in front of him, searching. After reading the data, he adjusted the output and began to sweep the sickbay. If both the primary and secondary systems picked up the same thing, maybe there was an actual source to the “ghost” signal. It wasn’t possible that an isolated system like his tricorder could have been tampered with, too, was it?

“Marco-o-o,” he muttered under his breath.

The scanner indicated that the ensign was in a location hidden around the corner from where Weir was. It was near the surgical suit biobeds, a place not often used on academy missions. Though never used it certainly wasn’t as common as on a McCoy class ship such as the Owaga.

The XO entered Sickbay at that time and held up his hands palms out as the various crew members turned to look at him.

“Yes, I know I was a suspect in the current investigation. Yes, you thought I was confined to quarters. And yes, you are all surprised to see me here. However, the Captain has decided to clear me as a suspect at this time,” Eric explained.

He looked over for Lieutenant Mika. “Now, as to why I am here,” Eric said. “I have hours of missing memories from the night before, tricorder scans show sedatives in my bloodstream, and who knows what else is happening. I don’t even know how or when I was dosed. I’m hoping you might be able to help out…”

-Cmdr. Eric Holmman, XO

Emmy followed behind the XO and, trying to avoid the pomp and circumstance of her last arrival somewhere, she leaned quietly against a bulkhead in Sickbay to observe the proceedings.

Mika looked to the XO as he entered, and then the Captain. “Commander Holmann, sir. The sedatives that were found in your system would be more than capable of messing with your memory… And I’m not sure if there is any way you’ll recall those hours. What is it exactly you’re hoping for, sir?” She asked. “Perhaps discovering how you were dosed will uncover a clue to what happened?” She thought aloud, frowning.

~ Lt JG Mika, CMO

“Well, to date all we have is the Captain’s scan of me by a medical tricorder,” Eric explained. “It would good to know if there’s anything else going on with me - both for myself and for the investigation. And knowing more details about the sedative, how I consumed it, and when I consumed it, would probably help.”

“Plus,” Eric added, “I would’t mind counteracting the effects to I can concentrate on the investigation more…”
