The XO entered Sickbay at that time and held up his hands palms out as the various crew members turned to look at him.

“Yes, I know I was a suspect in the current investigation. Yes, you thought I was confined to quarters. And yes, you are all surprised to see me here. However, the Captain has decided to clear me as a suspect at this time,” Eric explained.

He looked over for Lieutenant Mika. “Now, as to why I am here,” Eric said. “I have hours of missing memories from the night before, tricorder scans show sedatives in my bloodstream, and who knows what else is happening. I don’t even know how or when I was dosed. I’m hoping you might be able to help out…”

Emmy followed behind the XO and, trying to avoid the pomp and circumstance of her last arrival somewhere, she leaned quietly against a bulkhead in Sickbay to observe the proceedings.

Mika looked to the XO as he entered, and then the Captain. “Commander Holmann, sir. The sedatives that were found in your system would be more than capable of messing with your memory… And I’m not sure if there is any way you’ll recall those hours. What is it exactly you’re hoping for, sir?” She asked. “Perhaps discovering how you were dosed will uncover a clue to what happened?” She thought aloud, frowning.

“Well, to date all we have is the Captain’s scan of me by a medical tricorder,” Eric explained. “It would good to know if there’s anything else going on with me - both for myself and for the investigation. And knowing more details about the sedative, how I consumed it, and when I consumed it, would probably help.”

“Plus,” Eric added, “I would’t mind counteracting the effects to I can concentrate on the investigation more…”

-Cmdr. Eric Holmman, XO

Caelian’s attention was almost completely on the tricorder in his hand as he neared the biobeds. As he closed in on the ensign’s signal, he slowed. A few adjustments to the scan’s settings helped him begin to narrow the field. Frowning in thought, he began to scan the nearest bed. His ears picked up the words investigation, suspect, and sedative, but his mind filed them aside for the moment.

He’d far more pressing concerns, after all.

It hadn’t occurred to Emmy that Holmman might still be suffering the effects of the sedative. It was fortunate he’d had the idea to visit Sickbay, then. She observed quietly, waiting to see if the Sickbay scans would match up with what her tricorder had revealed.

The scans that were run in sickbay were consistent with Emmy’s. Based on how the levels in the blood and how the commander responded, it was very likely that he had been injected with a hypospray containing the memory blocking seditives.

Eric, blissfully unaware of the scan results, looked around Sickbay while waiting for Mika. He noticed an engineering cadet scanning with his tricorder in the corner. He took a couple of steps over. “What are you working on, cadet?”

-Cmdr. Eric Holmman, XO

Mika had been running the scan, and once she had the results, reported them to Commander Holmman. “It was likely a hypospray of sedatives, which are blocking your memory. We can hope that if we can counter the effects, or if they wear off, you may regain some of your memory, sir. But I’m not certain.” She told him.

Frowning at his tricorder, Caelian didn’t notice the commander sidling his direction until he spoke up. He twitched noticeably at the voice, hand paused over the tricorder’s display. Once he’d recognized the pips on Holmman’s uniform, Caelian offered an embarrassed smile.

“Sorry, sir. Didn’t see you there.” Caelian hefted his tricorder for emphasis as he continued. “The chief—Zenzgii, sir—sent me down here to run a diagnostic on the sensors here in sickbay. I’m showing the same life signs on my tricorder that were found earlier. I’m just…”

Shaking his head, Caelian recalibrated his tricorder and turned back to the biobeds. Carefully he began to physically inspect the nearest. “I’m just not sure where they’d be hiding if it’s not a sensor ghost.”
