It hadn’t occurred to Emmy that Holmman might still be suffering the effects of the sedative. It was fortunate he’d had the idea to visit Sickbay, then. She observed quietly, waiting to see if the Sickbay scans would match up with what her tricorder had revealed.

Davis, CO

The scans that were run in sickbay were consistent with Emmy’s. Based on how the levels in the blood and how the commander responded, it was very likely that he had been injected with a hypospray containing the memory blocking seditives.

Eric, blissfully unaware of the scan results, looked around Sickbay while waiting for Mika. He noticed an engineering cadet scanning with his tricorder in the corner. He took a couple of steps over. “What are you working on, cadet?”

-Cmdr. Eric Holmman, XO

Mika had been running the scan, and once she had the results, reported them to Commander Holmman. “It was likely a hypospray of sedatives, which are blocking your memory. We can hope that if we can counter the effects, or if they wear off, you may regain some of your memory, sir. But I’m not certain.” She told him.

Frowning at his tricorder, Caelian didn’t notice the commander sidling his direction until he spoke up. He twitched noticeably at the voice, hand paused over the tricorder’s display. Once he’d recognized the pips on Holmman’s uniform, Caelian offered an embarrassed smile.

“Sorry, sir. Didn’t see you there.” Caelian hefted his tricorder for emphasis as he continued. “The chief—Zenzgii, sir—sent me down here to run a diagnostic on the sensors here in sickbay. I’m showing the same life signs on my tricorder that were found earlier. I’m just…”

Shaking his head, Caelian recalibrated his tricorder and turned back to the biobeds. Carefully he began to physically inspect the nearest. “I’m just not sure where they’d be hiding if it’s not a sensor ghost.”
—Caelian Weir, Cadet—

Eric nodded at Weir’s report, but was also mulling over Mika’s comments.

“Wait, a hypospray?” he asked in astonishment, turning back to the doctor. He started asking question a loud to himself. “When? How? Who would have done it and when? Pel? That doesn’t make sense, though…”

Saying the deceased ensign’s name reminded Eric of Weir’s comments. “The sensor shadow must be part of an attempt to hold off us discovering a problem until it was too late,” Eric commented.

“Is there a way to recover my memories now?” Eric asked Mika.

OOC: So just to clarify no one has actually gone towards where the signal is saying the ensign currently is, correct? Just scanning in the general direction?

IC: Mika would know that with this particular drug memories would return, potentially, with time but it was unspecific as to when and short of some seriously invasive psychotherapy would happen at their own pace.

The results of the scan showed that yep, near one of the BioBeds Pey apparently stood, her signal still registering with the computer even if there were no biological signs of her being present in that location

=^= Riley to Lieutenant Mika. Ensign Pey retrieved two hyposprays of benzodiazepines shortly before her shift ended. Do you know what the reason for these was? =^=

Mika shook her head. “Eventually, yes, your memories will return but… there’s no telling when. They’ll come when they’re ready to, save for invasive psychotherapy…” She said to Commander Holmman. Upon hearing Cadet Riley through the communicator, Mika frowned. =/\= Mika to Cadet Riley. I’m not sure. There should be record of the doses being given. Let me check… =/\=

[OOC, Wombat: I’ve had Cael zeroing in on where Pey is supposed to be according to scans, posted last assuming he was almost right on top of them. Apologies if I wasn’t more clear.]

Caelian blinked as the tricorder chirped an alert, swinging the device around. “What the…?”

Completely flummoxed, the cadet did a slow orbit of the space that the ensign was supposed to be standing. Two different sources said that she should have been standing right in front of him. A part of him wanted to tear his tricorder apart to check for issues, but that was the frustration talking. Before he could stop himself, Caelian reached out with a befuddled hand to sweep through the space, silently wondering if Pey would somehow magically appear.
—Caelian Weir, Cadet—

When Weir got close enough he saw, wedged in the space between the cushion and the support beam, was a comm badge. Even a cursory evaluation from the engineer showed signs that it had been tampered with. For some reason this comm badge was broadcasting Ensign Pey’s life signs as if on a loop.

=^= We thought we should at least alert you, as it came up in the investigation. I think that’s best handled by your team. Thank you. Riley out. =^=

  • Cadet Riley, Science

“Wait a moment,” Eric said, catching up. “Pey had two hyposprays of the sedative? One for me… and one for herself?”

-Cmdr. Eric Holmman, XO
