Dr. Hart was enthusiastic about his choice, “Pediatrics. A healthy start will make for a far off end.”
He enjoyedly drank more of his chai.
“I honestly was teased in med. school for my choice. They would remark how the kids will walk all over me.”

Vanessa smiled as he explained his choice. “An excellent choice; something Starfleet needs a lot of as more and more ships are carrying families, often on years-long exploratory missions.”

“And children will surprise you, I think; they’re often more accepting of differences than adults are,” she continued, still cradling the cup of chocolate in her lap. “The irrational fear of the other is something that is learned.”

She paused, leaning forward, her face still, the show gone. “You likely know this, but to be sure: any suggestion of bullying or teasing by your fellow cadets or officers is unacceptable. You do not have to put up with that, not do you need to fear coming to us about it. Starfleet will not accept that behavior.”

She leaned back again, taking a so from her cup. “How has that been at the Academy? How have you been fitting in to groups?”

Maybe a little strong, Vanessa, she chided herself. But it is not something he should need to worry about. She fumed internally at the prospect.

OOC: I’m so sorry I forgot to say this earlier - Hi Chase! This thread is to help develop your character, build their background up - like picking the specialty you did here. You have a great bio drawn up already, and we can use this to help flesh it out even more. I look forward to learning more about Mai!

Dr. Hart thought about it before speaking, “I met one person. I’m not sure, but I think he likes me. I’m not sure I’d want a boyfriend instead of a girlfriend, though. He’s tall, dark, and handsome. But, I said we should just be friends.”
He drinks his chai happily.
