The bulkheads and many corridors were beginning to feel less intimidating as Dael made his way from the Counselor’s office. One more stop to go he thought as he made his way to the nearest turbolift. Sure, he didn’t have to get all of the on-boarding done in one day, but for Dael it was important that he not have any loose ends hanging around. He nodded to several people as he passed by them, their friendly faces and thoughts helping Dael’s feeling that the nervousness he had experienced upon boarding the vessel was unwarranted. This was a new place with a new way of doing things, but this was Starfleet, not the colony he had lived on all his life. Ship changes, personnel changes, new and exciting planets and phenomena, engineering challenges and mysteries… these were all why he wore the uniform. It was just one thing to think about them in the abstract, another to have the deckplates humming beneath your feet.

The turbolift swished open. Exiting, he stopped to get his bearings. Dael had gone over the Challenger’s schematics a bit to familiarize himself with the ship. But, just like thoughts of adventure and wonder in the abstract were different than being there, so was schematics to actually walking down the corridor. By the Four Deities, maybe doing this all in one go wasn’t the smartest play, I’m getting lost on my first go. He stepped over to an interface in the corridor’s bulkhead, tapping it to bring it to life.

“Computer, where is Sickbay?”

=Main Sickbay is on Deck 6=

Dael let out a sigh. “Yes, well, I’m on Deck 6. Where specific to my location is it?”

=Down the corridor, main doors are second on the right=

Dael thanked the familiar female voice. He had always noted it’s similarity to a member of the Fifth House his mother had worked for briefly, but he was always sure it wasn’t possible. For one, the voice of the computer interface had been around for centuries, and Betazoids could be long-lived, but not that much. Besides, from what he had heard, no one wanted to be around the holder of that voice for too long so making it Starfleet’s interface made no sense.

Finally he arrived, the doors to the Sickbay opening up before him. He stepped inside, happy to see no one in any biobeds. He’d hate to intrude on anyone receiving care or in a vulnerable state for just a checkup. He didn’t pick up any thoughts in the nearby vicinity, but he was neither that far inside the large room nor that familiar with the staff so that put a damper on his natural abilities. He fidgeted a bit with his hands as his black irises swept the room again before he called out.

“Ummm, excuse me? I just came onboard and was hoping to get my physical taking care of..... Is there anyone here?”

-Cadet Dael Stadi, Engineering

“Oh, hello,” Sera stood at the threshold to her office, having heard the Cadet come in, “Here for a boarding physical I see, well no problem, pick a bio bed, any bio bed and I will just grab my tricorder and we’ll get you sorted,” she smiled kindly.
