On his way to the sickbay, William felt fairly confident. He had never been as fragile as his father, and his mother always made sure that he maintained a healthy lifestyle. Starfleet Academy also made sure of that, with its periodic checkups. He was a bit nervous, surely every prospective officer is at the time like this, but Blakely tried to purge negative thoughts from his mind. In the sickbay, he focused on the top-of-the-line equipment. He thought about his own experiments, with strange new lifeforms, gently resting under his microscope, waiting to have their secrets studied and documented.

The sickbay was rather slow that day, and in fact, looked pretty empty. Most of the activity was nurses or medics cleaning or running checks and maintenance on sickbay equipment. When one of the nurses saw Cadet Blakely, he said, “Hello there! You must be one of the new Cadets, huh? Let me go find a doctor.”

After the nurse rushed off, Lt JG Mika came up to him, sticking her hand out for a handshake. “I’m junior Lieutenant Mika, nice to meet you, Cadet,” she said, offering a friendly smile. “Why don’t you pick a biobed and we’ll get your eval over with?” She said, gesturing to the beds, most of which were currently empty.

William entered the sickbay and looked around. He was a bit surprised to see it this empty. He smiled at one of the friendly nurses who was kind enough to find a doctor. He approached the doctor as she walked towards him and gently shook her hand.

“Cadet William Blakely, nice to meet you too.”

He nodded as she pointed to the biobeds, and picked the closest one.

The nurse returned the cadet’s thankful smile and came up to the pair as he got situated on the biobed. “Welcome aboard, Cadet. I’ll just get us started here. Is there anything the doctor should know about your medical history?”

As Mika returned with the proper equipment, a tricorder and PaDD, she stood next to the biobed, allowing the Cadet to answer the nurse’s question.

“Not much, apart from a nasty nickel allergy, but so far I’ve been able to keep it in check with the new generation of antihistamines they introduced a few years ago. It literally changed my life.”

OOC: Since it’s your character I’ll be scanning, you can decide what it says :)

Mika smiled. “Yes, they were quite the improvement,” she said. “On that note, I’ll go ahead and get your scan out of the way.” She added, and with the tricorder, she scanned the cadet from head to toe. “I never had any allergies myself, but I’ve heard about it quite a lot.” She commented as she did so.

Blakely waited patiently for the scan to be over. Its results were a bit surprising, but not unexpected. It revealed rather weak ankles for a man his age, definitely a result of his amateur cricket career. He was always prone to minor ankle sprains, some of which prevented him from appearing in some crucial games. It also detected his past rotator cuff injury, sustained when he overloaded his shoulder during one of the first amateur games in his high school. It seemed however, fortunately, that there was no permanent damage to be concerned with.

OOC: Hope this description is fine :)

“Looks like you were into sports at one point in your life Cadet,” Sera stepped up to the bio bed, “Sorry to interrupt, but Doctor Mika, you’re needed in exam room 2, I can finish up with Cadet Blakely, assuming that’s okay with you Cadet? I’m Doctor Seraphina Walsh, by the way.”

“William Blakely, pleased to meet you. Of course, it’s perfectly fine.”

Sera grinned as Doctor Mika went off to attend to what was needed, pulling up the cadet’s medical file in her system, “Alright, so your scans appear to be expected based on your medical file. Your past injuries appear to be just that, past injuries. If you are noticing any sort of pain or changes to your range of motion, be sure to let me know and I can research potential treatment options for you, otherwise, I’m perfectly comfortable declaring you fit and ready for duty.”

Blakely sighed with relief.

“Thank you so much, it’s a great relief. I was a bit worried that those injuries might catch up to me at some point, the service and the Academy being quite demanding. I’ll make sure to inform you of any changes as soon as possible!”

-Cadet William Blakely - Science

“Splendid, then you are free to carry on Cadet,” Sera smiled, “I’m noting as such in your file. Unless you have any other questions or concerns to bring to my attention, you are free to hop off the bio bed and leave sickbay.”
