Eric replied to the Captain’s question about an away team. “It’s an option, Captain. That being said, the other ship might not take too kindly to us showing up inside it, especially if it is some type of life form. We would need to be careful about the situation not becoming hostile. Another option is send out a shuttle as a second ship for it to interact with, and study the response.”

-Cmdr. Eric Holmman, XO

“If we go down that route Commander,” Anders began, “I’m happy to board the shuttle with one of my team.” Kyle was starting to get antsy, and was eager to get his hands dirty.

-Lieutenant Junior Grade Kyle Anders: Chief of Security-

Emmy gave the Chief of Security a blank and confused gaze, but her follow up was interrupted by the arrival of the cadet from engineering.

The turbolift doors whisked open and revealed the bridge. Dael took an apprehensive breath and stepped out onto the control center for the ship. He noted most of the senior staff was present and all seemed intent on coming up with ideas and solutions to the current predicament. The inrush of thoughts mixed with his nerves took a moment to get adjusted to, but he tried to take it in stride. Just a normal day, the Captain just needs my advice… The Captain… needs me… Oooooh boy… He took a step forward, working to calm himself as his hands opened and closed at his sides. He was an engineer in Starfleet, he could handle this problem. He was a Betazoid, he could handle these thoughts. He could do this.

Repeating this mantra he made his way out of the turbolift alcove at the back of the bridge. He noticed a familiar face in Kyle Anders at the tactical station and gave him a nod. He had interacted with some of the senior staff at crew events, but he had ran into Anders a few times in the corridors while both were just cadets, and the small familiarity helped. Walking up towards the triumvirate of chairs for the Captain, XO and Counselor, Dael made sure to give off as calm an appearance as he could, as was expected for a Starfleet engineer. Even if his insides felt very differently.

“Captain, Lt. Sapeth said you requested me on the Bridge?”

-Cadet Stadi, Engineering

“Yes, Cadet,” Emmy stated crisply. “Work with Lieutenant Anders to ensure that we can safely vent warp plasma in response to that ship.” She gestured at the view screen where the image of the other ship was displayed. “It does not look like the ship is a threat to us, but we do want to ensure our safety.” With that, she turned back to the COS. “Your enthusiasm is noted; however, Commander Holmman is a pilot and the optimal choice for such an attempt.”

“Commander, gather a cadet or two and get to the Shuttlebay so that we have the option depending on how the warp vent goes.”

Davis, CO

Kyle bristled slightly at Davis’ response, but didn’t show it. He turned to the young Engineering cadet and smiled, “Join me at the security console Cadet?”

-Lieutenant Junior Grade Kyle Anders: Chief of Security-

Eric stood up from his chair. He saw Anders was eager to take a lead, but this was an unusual situation and he was probably one of the more experienced pilots on the ship. “No problem, Captain. We’ll start see how this ship reacts. Although if it is acting like a peacock, I hope it doesn’t mistake us for a potential mate… I better make sure we have some medical cadets lined up.”

Emmy nodded and sat in her chair as she awaited the next update. She brought up information about peacocks on a PaDD to scan if there was any relevant information to the situation at hand.

The XO tapped his communicator as he headed to the turbolift. =^= Holmman to Sickbay. Dr. Walsh, we’re going to be taking a shuttle out to see how this other ship reacts. It might be some sort of artificial lifeform, though. Can you spare a couple of your cadets to join me at the shuttle bay? =^=
