Kyle looked over at Dael, awaiting his explanation, “Over to you lad.”

-Lieutenant Junior Grade Kyle Anders: Chief of Security-

OOC: Thank you!

IC: The confidence Dael had been feeling from coming up with potential solutions started to fade a bit when the situation turned more social. He tried to take it in stride though, he had a possible solution, and that’s why the Captain wanted him there. Lt. Anders’ reaction to his idea and jovial confident thoughts gave Dael a bit of the boost he needed. Just breath and sum it up Dael.

“Yes Captain, I think I may have a possible solution. I suggest passing it through Lt. Sapeth since the warp drive and shields are still coming back on full power, but basically we can use the ramscoops at the front of our nacelles to gather up the hydrogen gas in the space around us. Then, rather than using it to try and salvage deuterium like we would in an emergency for power, we flush the gas back out… Maybe with a little extra of our used plasma that would normally vent during routine maintenance and some minimal yield torpedoes or some flashing equivalent, and we have ourselves a potential light festival… sir.”

Dael took a breath and glanced at the readouts on the security console at the shield strength and damage report layout. “My only concern is that the gas release shouldn’t be harmful to us since it’s nothing as reactive as say metreon,” he added, nodding towards Anders, acknowledging the security chief’s recollection at another past unconventional uses of the ramscoops by a Federation ship, “…but with shields being not at full strength and the warp drive under repair, there could be an issue. Unlikely, but I feel I should mention it.”

-Cadet Stadi, Engineering

As Stadi spoke, Emmy’s body language revealed her developing interest in his report and, by the time he finished speaking, she had essentially rotated herself in her chair to be able to look at him as he presented the idea. “I appreciate the consideration of all of the potential risks, Cadet,” Emmy responded, her voice growing as warm as likely anyone on the Bridge had ever heard it. “Consult with Lieutenant Spaeth and, if he believes it is doable, do it.”

The XO’s voice came over the bridge’s comm. =^= Runabout to the Bridge. We’re leaving Challenger. Will report once we see how it reacts. =^=

Shortly afterwards, the bridge’s system would show a runabout leaving the shuttle bay, and heading towards the other ship, but not on a direct line of sight between Challenger and the other ship. The runabout came to a rest shortly afterwards.

-Cmdr. Eric Holmman, XO

=/\= Acknowledged, Commander. =/\=

Emmy rotated herself back to look at the view screen, with its focus on the other ship. “Have the transporter operator keep a lock on the Commander and the others,” she instructed Anders swiftly as she studied the screen to see what would happen.

Anders turned to the young cadet, “I’ll keep everything going on the console while you get everything sorted with Sapeth.”

-Lieutenant Junior Grade Kyle Anders: Chief of Security-

Dael felt a wave of relief as he sensed the receptiveness to his idea. You’re doing great Dael… now you just got to make sure it works “Aye Captain.” was what the cadet could get out as he started to look over Anders’ console once more trying to hide the nerves and excitement he was. Your first duty on the bridge, let’s keep this ball rolling as they say. “Thank you, Lieutenant, maybe we can start looking at some flashing probes or if you can get a torpedo to just flash and not react to the plasma we’ll release it may possibly give us some extra communication skills. I just hope that whatever we’re sending out doesn’t look like an insult.” Dael then tapped his commbadge.
=^= Cadet Stadi to Lt. Sapeth, the Captain was looking for options to mimic the colorful display that this… vessel is emitting as a possible way of communication. I suggested using the ramscoops to take in the surrounding hydrogen as they’re intended but rather than send it to the engines to be filtered for fuel, we flush it back out with some of our spent plasma to make that colorful display. But I’m not sure how the situation is progressing down in Engineering, if you think the systems can handle it with our current repairs going on, the Captain is on board.=^=

-Cadet Stadi, Engineering

=^= Definitely an interesting concept Cadet. Repairs to the warp core should be complete in approximately 8 minutes, with the all of the repairs being completed within the hour. I recommend that the shields around the nacelles are reinforced, in case of inadvertent detonation of the expelled hydrogen. I’m currently waiting for an update on the shield repairs and when they will be complete. =^=

Lt Sapeth - CE

Davis, CO

“I like you’re thinking lad,” Kyle said as his hands flew across the console, “Captain, I can have the probe ready in two minutes.”

-Lieutenant Junior Grade Kyle Anders: Chief of Security-

Emmy offered a curt nod of acknowledgment. “Do it,” she instructed, keeping her eyes on the view screen to monitor the progress of the shuttle. “Inform the Commander of the plan so that he is aware of the probe launching.”

Davis, CO
