The poor NE Helmsman held his hand over the button on his control panel waiting to do the thing but the conversation between the COS and the CO gave him pause. Not long though. After a second the button was pressed.

Two modified proton torpedos screamed out and blew up like fireworks on either side of the runabout. The scoops fired their brilliant display, lighting up the space around the two ships. The other smaller ship backs up a moment and is silent before diving down and accelerating attempting to fly under the challenger towards her stern.

Anders remained rather stoney faced as he said, “Well that should’ve gotten her attention, now we wait.”

-Lieutenant Junior Grade Kyle Anders: Chief of Security-

Dael watched the thing’s movement after he had taken a step back from the tactical console. He didn’t need telepathy to feel the tension between the Captain and Anders, and with everything else going on, feeling it in his head wasn’t helpful. He hoped the distance would help, but now his head was instead still left puzzled as he tried to decipher the reaction of the unknown ship. That’s why I’m an engineer and not a behaviorist he thought as he looked to the view screen, the beep from the comm taking him away and thankfully giving him something else to focus on.

=^= Sapeth to the bridge. Did your intended ‘light show’ work as you expected it to? =^=

Lt Sapeth - CE

=/\= The technical aspect worked as expected, thank you, Lieutenant. =/\=

=^= Cadet Stadi here sir, we definitely got a reaction out of the creature… or ship. But I think it’s safe to say we’re not sure what to expect at this point. Shields and the warp core appear to be holding stable though with the modifications.=^= Dael quickly set to work at the Engineering console to confirm what he was telling his Chief, and looked back out onto the bridge. He had hoped using the ramscoops would give them more information somehow, but it’s just gave more questions. He considered attempting to reach out to the being, or whatever it was telepathically, but having never tried that before across ships and with everyone on edge, he decided to wait till someone told him or expected him to. Or you could bring it up yourself Dael, show some initiative beyond the engine room.

Vanessa grinned at the colorful display on the screen before them, which quickly turned into a frown as it dove and appeared to… hide behind them? She folded her arms, lips pursed, quietly studying the other being’s actions.

“It’s as if she wants us to chase her,” Anders said, addressing the Captain, “Do I fire another probe off ma’am?” Kyle was racking his brain as to the cause of the small tension between him and his CO.

-Lieutenant Junior Grade Kyle Anders: Chief of Security-

With an inaudible gulp, Dael spoke up. “It may be trying to hide beneath us from the lights, I’m not sure, I’ve never been much for reading behavior without some help.” he tapped his temple, and then looked back on the view screen before speaking again. “I’ve never really tried it before, but I know of some telepaths that can read some across these distances. I don’t know if it will work, and if it is more of an animal in mental pathways, it’s not ideal for us Betazoids. We really try to avoid that, but if we do need to…I can try, sirs.”

-Cadet Stadi, Engineering

“Turn us around to face the ship,” Emmy instructed.
