“Turn us around to face the ship,” Emmy instructed.

Davis, CO

The helm took a breath and let it out in a low sigh, not at the captain’s order but the general situation. Tapping a few buttons the Challenger pivoted to face the other smaller ship who was now at the Challenger’s bow facing away. The casual observer would think that the challenger was now chasing the new creature.

Once the Challenger was in view, the smaller ship let off another color display, enticing the Challenger and then moving forward again. “This is becoming vexing, and slightly awkward,” the helm reported.

Kyle arched an eyebrow, “You mean you can read the lights?”

-Lieutenant Junior Grade Kyle Anders: Chief of Security-

Emmy’s left eyebrow mirrored the COS’ as she demanded, in a far less polite tone than the Chief of Security had used, “awkward? How? I assume that you have an alternative suggestion. What is it?” Clearly, the CO was just as annoyed by the current situation they found themselves in and unsure of how to relate to a.. sentient ship?

Davis, CO

Kyle had to put it out there, “Is it possible that the ship is altering our emotional responses?”, he asked. Kyle didn’t want to directly accuse Captain Davis of being blunt and abrasive with the entire crew, so decided that this route was the safer option.

Dael swiveled in the Engineering station chair to face the bridge and her crew again. “I suppose anything’s possible. I know sometimes colored light displays can affect moods but I don’t know if I’ve felt any different. I can see if I can gather enough hydrogen and spent engine plasma to let off another ramscoop volley, though I wouldn’t suggest it for sustained communication, they weren’t really built for it.” He looked at the ship on the screen. As humans say, here goes nothing.

He prepped to start another ramscoop cycle in case it was requested though they were still in a cool down cycle, and turned to focus his mind on the seemingly sentient creature and reach out. He filtered out the constant noise of the bridge crews surface thoughts, the confusion, stress and focus of those around him, and tried to focus his mind on the thing he saw on the screen, blacking out the rest in a tunnel vision of waves he rode the channels of thought. He’d never trued this before, and normally would just focus on his engineering skills, but hopefully he could glean something to help his crew.
