Department Check-In - Cadet Anderson (Science)

Posted Dec. 29, 2020, 10:03 p.m. by Cadet Amy Anderson (Scientist) (Patrick Crum)

(OOC: Hi there! Looking forward to getting this started! It’s been a while since I’ve done forum based roleplay so forgive me if I’m a little rusty.)

IC:

–Before the Current Events of the USS Challenger–

=^= Shuttlebay Control to Shuttle Libra, you are clear for final approach. Landing Pad Beta has been assigned. =^=

The shuttle pilot calmly replied, =^= Acknowledged, Challenger. Libra on Final Approach. =^=

Inside the shuttle sat various personnel in the passenger area. Several bright-eyed cadets gleamed with excitement as they stared out the windows of their seats. In front of them was their new home for their final academy assignment: The USS Challenger. The excitement upon the faces of the cadets told the story - years of hard work, studying, and pushing themselves has brought this moment to fruition for them. Unfortunately, the same expression could not be found upon one particular cadet.

A young, brunette haired, female human sat off to the side as her new cadet colleagues shared their moment of excitement with each other. It was their moment - not hers. Her view gazed upon the PADD sitting in her lap as she glanced over a particular letter. The contents of the letter expressed to the young woman that though her application was exemplary, her internship application to the Daystrom Institute was rejected. Now, instead of being in the middle of cutting edge research for her final cadet project, Cadet Amy Anderson found herself on a shuttle to their cadet cruise assignment.

As the shuttle landed in the assigned pad area, the young cadets began to gather their items as they prepared to disembark. A starfleet yeoman stood near the exit of the shuttle, gathering the names and departments of each cadet as they exited. After receiving the information, the young enlisted crewmember would point in the direction of where each person should muster. Soon, it came Amy’s turn.

“Name?” Asked the yeoman.

“Cadet Anderson, Amy.” Amy replied formally.

The yeoman replied, “Department assignment?” without even glancing up from the PADD.

“Science Division.” Amy said as she adjusted her duffle bag on her shoulder that began to slide.

The yeoman pointed over toward some cargo containers toward the right hand side of the landing bay. “Report over there for Safety briefing. Afterwards, check in with your new department head, Lieutenant McMorran.”

The spectacle of cadet arrival for their training cruise was a tightly planned event in the shuttle bay - with everything organized almost to the point of an assembly line. Along with the new cadets, supplies and requisitions were being processed and separated by the Operations team. The dance of the shuttle bay ballet swirled around as Amy walked across the area to her assigned spot. A few moments later, a young security ensign walked up and began to address the group of teal jacket cadets - Amy’s new colleagues in the science division.

–An Hour Later - Deck 1 / Science Lab 1–

After the safety briefing that took far too long and a few moments to get everything placed away in the cadet quarters area, Amy had finally stepped off the turoblift near the entrance of the Science Lab. The doors of the lab opened and revealed multiple people moving about completing their work. Amy paused for a moment as she watched her colleagues start the foundations of their research. Finally, her visual of the room shifted to the Lieutenant’s office. She adjusted the jacket of her uniform and walked over to the door and activated the door chime - waiting for the response to come in.
