After grabbing what was called a caramel apple from a nearby stand, and wondering how exactly one was to eat something with such a hard exterior, he felt familiar surface thoughts touching at his mind, and made his way over to some known faces. “Lt. Anders, nice to see you again under less stressful circumstances, sir.” Dael said and trying to give a friendly smile. Despite his species’ talents in reading others, he was still more comfortable reading engineering diagrams. He made his way near where the podium stood, tapping at his encased apple, looking for a weak spot that would allow it to edible. Why would humans make their fruit harder to eat? He saw his department head and straightened to give a formal nod his way, knowing the Vulcan didn’t enjoy small talk.

Cadet Stadi, Engineering

Eric eyed the arrival of Cadet Stadi, and turned back to Captain Davis. “Well, now that Stadi is here, I think this would be a perfect time, Captain,” Eric said, replying to Davis’s question. The XO grinned, and waved his hand towards the podium. “After you?”

-Cmdr. Eric Holmman, XO

Making his way through the people in attendance, Sapeth walked over to Stadi. “Cadet. I’m glad you could join us.”

Eying the candied apple Sapeth wondered why someone would choose to add a sweet coating to an otherwise perfectly acceptable apple.

Lt Sapeth - CE

“Lt. Sapeth, I’m glad to be here sir. Would you care for some of this hardened sweet apple? I’m still working on how to eat it without needing a lascutter. On Betazed if they were to candy a fruit, as I was told this was, it’s normally much less.. solid.” He emphasized the point by moving his hand briskly, the stick and apple still firmly in place.

“I am fine. I am not sure what the reason behind such a concoction would be.”

Kyle gestured to Commander Lofton to go ahead of him and made his way to his position behind the CO and XO on the podium.

Emmy had been staring off into what appeared to be space, but she was truly just observing the interactions between the various members of the Challenger staff. Holmman’s question brought her sharply back to what needed to be accomplished and she scowled briefly, opening and then shutting her mouth before making a rude remark. Instead, she chose to nod sharply at the XO and addressed the group of staff members who were milling around the immediate area:

“Cadet Stadi, come forward.”

Davis, CO

Dael broke from his attempts at eating the caramel apple when he felt the Captain’s attention shift to him telepathically a moment before he heard her address him. He looked around quickly for a place to dispose of the partially chewed fruit. He had accepted that just chewing it and potentially having to make a sickbay run for his teeth was better than not taking a bite at all. Just don’t be sticky on me, not at this moment. he thought while spotting a convenient disposal bin on his way over to the Captain. It seemed just the other day he was nervous about going on the Bridge and coming up with solutions for the ship’s lead officer, and now here he was, still nervous mind you but much more sure of himself when it came to interacting with the senior staff. He had assisted in a crisis, weathered through it, and he was still here, and that’s what counted. He took the remaining steps to the Captain, straightening out his uniform, hoping none of the caramel was on his hands, and stood at attention.

-Cadet Stadi, Engineering

As the cadet’s name was called, Sapeth took a step back and indicated for the Cadet to head towards the stage.

Lt Sapeth - CE

Kyle smiled as he watched Stadi make his way up to the podium, recalling all the time they’d had together as Cadets, You should be proud lad, he thought to himself.
