“Sure thing. But you might also want to check in with the Chief while you are here,” Spanner said as he waited for Kiasees. “He might be a Vulcan, but I promise you he’s not that bad.”

Chief Petty Officer Spanner - Eng

Kiasees placed her hand on his shoulder. “You drive a hard bargain. I’m sold. Despite what the others say about you, I think you’re a good person.” she said, departing deeper into engineering.

Its unlikely he’ll be that hard to find she thought.

Spanner chuckled, “Oh you will fit in well here. Good luck Cadet!”

As Kiasees wandered deeper into engineering, she would find Sapeth standing by the warp core, overseeing work on one of the magnetic constrictors.

“After adjusting the confinement beam, make sure to verify the calibration before locking in the setting,” Sapeth instructed the two cadets who were working on the constrictor.

“After that is complete, confirm that there has been no drift to the calibrations for the entire system.”

Lt. Sapeth was not the first Volcan Las had seen. He was however, the first she had spoken to in this body. “Tonk’peh, i am ne-lan kiasees las.” (Hello, I am Cadet Kiasees Las.) she said, making sure not to block his line of sight with the equipment. “I memorized that about 10 hours ago. How’d I do Sir?”

“Na’shaya Cadet Las,” Sapeth said inclining his head. “Your pronunciation was adequate, though I would pay attention to your choice of words. Tonk’peh is an informal greeting, not necessarily appropriate for greeting your new superior officer.”

He turned his attention back to the team working on the magnetic constrictor. “Once your recalibration is complete, please uploaded the final report to my attention.”

That completed, he turned his attention to Cadet Las. “Welcome aboard the Challenger Cadet, I hope you had a pleasant trip to the Challenger,” he said leading the way to his office. Once they entered he indicated towards the chair in front of his desk, as he took a seat behind the immaculate desk.
