Cadet M’rahja Ko, in good spirits after her official check-in with her superior officer, whistled a jaunty tune to herself as she made her way to the ship’s Sickbay. Though, any passer-by might turn their head as she passed as she couldn’t whistle like the humans do. No, her whistle was more like an airy hiss that sometimes sounded like the purr of an engine on the verge of exploding. Give her a break, she did not have that strange flat mouth that many humanoids had, or lips that she could pucker. It was honestly weird how many strange shapes humanoids could make with their mouths.

She ceased her cheery not-whistle outside Medbay, but was no less cheerful as she greeted the staff inside. “Cadet Ko, reporting for my physical evaluation.” She said, her r’s rolled and the s’s extended. Again, sounds better suited to that flat mouth. It was very almost a conspiracy against those with proper mouths. “Should I take a seat or stay standing?”

Cadet Ko

Vanessa was standing at the small desk near the front of the sickbay entrance, entering some data from a patient trauma session she had just completed, when she heard the young Caitian speak up.

“Hello Cadet Ko,” she greeted with a smile. “I’m Lieutenant Commander Lofton, the ship’s counselor.” She glanced over her shoulder and spotted a free doctor. “Follow me and we’ll get you started.”

She crossed the room, flagging down a young human woman. “Cadet Ko, this is Doctor Parker-Cawlyns. Cadet Ko is here for her on boarding physical,” she explained to the doctor.

She turned back to Ko. “It was a pleasure to meet you, and don’t forget to drop by my office later,” she said, smiling, before returning to her brief data entry.

Lt. Cmdr. Lofton - CNS

M’rahja hadn’t expected to see Lieutenant Commander Lofton in Sickbay but it was a happy coincidence. “A pleasure to make your acquaintance,” M’rahja followed after the counselor and entered parade rest as she was introduced to the doctor, “I’m in your good hands,” M’rahja said with her usual good humor and added to Lofton, “You’re my next stop, promise.”

With introductions out of the way, M’rahja looked to her doctor, “Would you like me to sit or should I stay standing?”
