Vanessa was standing at the small desk near the front of the sickbay entrance, entering some data from a patient trauma session she had just completed, when she heard the young Caitian speak up.

“Hello Cadet Ko,” she greeted with a smile. “I’m Lieutenant Commander Lofton, the ship’s counselor.” She glanced over her shoulder and spotted a free doctor. “Follow me and we’ll get you started.”

She crossed the room, flagging down a young human woman. “Cadet Ko, this is Doctor Parker-Cawlyns. Cadet Ko is here for her on boarding physical,” she explained to the doctor.

She turned back to Ko. “It was a pleasure to meet you, and don’t forget to drop by my office later,” she said, smiling, before returning to her brief data entry.

Lt. Cmdr. Lofton - CNS

M’rahja hadn’t expected to see Lieutenant Commander Lofton in Sickbay but it was a happy coincidence. “A pleasure to make your acquaintance,” M’rahja followed after the counselor and entered parade rest as she was introduced to the doctor, “I’m in your good hands,” M’rahja said with her usual good humor and added to Lofton, “You’re my next stop, promise.”

With introductions out of the way, M’rahja looked to her doctor, “Would you like me to sit or should I stay standing?”

Cadet Ko

ooc: Hi! Sorry for the late reply, i’m usually much more prompt than this!

Carmen had just finished sending some unusual blood work samples down to the lab, and was looking around for her next task when the ship’s councilor grabbed her attention, pointing her to the Caitlin beside her.
“It’s good to meet you, Cadet Ko.” She led the cadet to an open bio-bed. “Please, sit.” she said with a smile, the cadet’s cheery disposition being rather infectious. Of course, all emotions tend to be infectious to Carmen, hazards of being part Betazoid.
Carmen grabbed a PADD and pulled up Ko’s medical file, before grabbing a tricorder to begin a scan. “How are you?” she asked.

M’rahja hopped onto the bio-bed when prompted and set her hands in her lap. “Oh, I am doing quite well on all fronts. Thank you for asking,” Her tricorder scan would show all well, with the exception of an almost healed muscle in her arm. Prior to her posting she had overexerted herself while exercising and though almost healed, she had to take some care not to strain the injury.

Cadet Ko

“Good to hear.” Carmen finished her scan quickly enough, tapping a few buttons on the tricorder and then placing it down. “Minus a strained muscle in your arm, which you are by no doubt aware of, you’re totally healthy.” She tapped a couple things into the PADD before turning back to her patient. “Just a few basic questions to get out of the way, and then you’re good to go.” She tapped her PADD yet again, before turning and sitting down on a stool next to the bio-bed. “Do you have any past medical conditions I should be aware of?”

-Cadet Parker-Cawlyns

“That’s excellent,” M’rahja answered. It was always nice to get the doctor’s prognosis, even an expected one. Upon prompted about previous medical conditions, M’rahja hesitated for a single moment. “Childhood malnutrition,” She answered, while trying to maintain her earlier cheer. Though the event was long past, and M’rahja had come to terms with it, part of her could never quite remain detached from that period in her life. “Several weeks of limited food and water while I was the age of five.”

Cadet Ko

Carmen felt the mood darken for a moment before the cadet answered. Although the event would be traumatic, it was unlikely that she had any physical long-term effects. She nodded gently, and typed Ko’s response into her PADD. She was curious to what had happened, but withheld herself from asking. It wasn’t her place.
She looked up again at her patient. “Have you had any problems sleeping, either falling asleep, staying asleep, waking up, or staying awake?”

-Cadet Parker-Cawlyns
