The ship fell out of warp and the scans started, traveling along at half impulse would take them a while to get through it all but it would be fast enough. The science NE on the bridge, who had yet to be relieved by a cadet, tapped the controls mindlessly watching the data stream in.
Their final destination, the moon and subsequent ruins, were a ways off. Plenty of time for the away team to assemble, figure out what they were going to do, and take a shuttle down. Or transporters.

“Anyone else oddly excited?” Kyle said aloud to nobody in particular.

Anders’ musing was enough finally for Emmy to swiftly rise to her feet and turn to him. “Lieutenant, you have the bridge,” she informed him. “Commander Holmman and I will be going on the away team. Commander, assemble the away team and meet me in the transporter room.”

“Aye Captain,” Anders replied, doing his best to hide his nerves. He moved to the centre seat and slide into it, more comfortably than he was expecting.

“Well, looks like I’ll be joining the Captain then,” Eric said, partly to himself, before turning to Anders. “Lieutenant, have one of your security cadets join us in the transporter room… and don’t take the ship out for a joy ride while we’re away.”
Before getting Anders’ response, XO tapped his communicator. =^= Holmman to Lieutenant Barr. Can you send a two-person science team to the transporter room to join the Captain and I on an away team to the surface? =^=
Eric nodded at Anders one last time, and then headed to the turbolift.

Anders grinned, “I can’t promise things won’t be exciting up here, sir,” the Security Chief replied, “Good luck down there.” He turned back to the viewscreen and tapped his combadge, “=/\= Anders to Cadet Ko, report to Commander Holmann in Transporter Room One, good luck down there Cadet, I have every faith. =/\=”

Cadet KoKyle smiled like a fond father and closed the channel before opening another: “=/\= Anders to Cadet Rodier, report to the Bridge. I could use a hand on the Security Station =/\=.”

”=/\= Aye, on my way, sir =/\=” the Cadet replied, heading to the turbolift. A few moments later, the door opened onto the Bridge, and Henry took a few steps in, speaking with some surprise to the Lieutenant sitting in the Captain’s Chair. “Cadet Rodier reporting for duty, sir.”

“Cover for me while I watch over the rest of the Bridge, Cadet?” Anders replied with a grin.

Henry’s look of surprise turned to one of sheer shock, which he forced into a nervous smile. “Of course, Lieutenant.” He moved towards the Tactical station, then paused. “I… I assume you want me here, sir? I apologize, this is only my second time on the Bridge outside of the Holodeck.” It was clear the Cadet was not entirely confident; he had expected to be placed on an away team, if anything, not asked to cover for his DH.

Kyle stepped over to Tactical and placed a calming hand on Rodier’s shoulder in an attempt to relax him, “Take a deep breath lad,” he began in a cool tone, “You can do this, I know you can. I’ll be here if you need a hand, but I also need to make sure the ship doesn’t keel over while the Captain and XO are planetside. Just relax in to it, trust me.” Kyle clapped Rodier’s shoulder and returned to the centre chair.

Taking a deep breath, Henry drew his shoulders up and and stepped up to the station. “Aye, sir. Thank you.” Never one to shy away from encouragement, the Cadet seemed to relax somewhat, though he was of course still nervous.

“Did the away team make it down ok?” Anders asked Rodier in an effort to take his mind off nerves.
