As the Away team materialized on the surface they were first greeted with the warm and lush jungles of the moon. The scent of sweet flowers filled the air and the larger gas giant planet loomed over head, juxtaposed with the star at the center of the system responsible for giving light to the small colony. In the distance, not too far, were what looked like a cross between an early Earth space hab and Mayan ruins. The primary edifice rose from the verdant vegetation and upon it was all manner of antiquated antennas and other scientific instruments.

Eric materialized, reacting the scent and warmth immediately. He took a quick glance around to see if there was any movement nearby, and then out of habit pulled out his tricorder for some generalized scans.

He looked over at the Captain. “I think we’re supposed to head that way,” he said, pointing towards the ruins.

M’rahja blinked as they materialized, her eyes dilating. She took a deep breath through her nose, and scanned the surrounding area. No immediate threats, but she remained tense, ready to pounce or defend at any moment. “Transport Site appears all clear,” She reported, and moved towards the Commander. With him focused on his tricorder, she would keep watch over him least something try to catch him unawares.

As soon as Stan materialized on the planet, he looked around for the ruins. Spotting them in the distance he was immediately fascinated by their appearance. While they clearly had the makings of a scientific outpost of a species in the early decades of space exploration, their appearance suggested that there might be something more to them than that. Maybe a deeper religious or cultural significance, he thought. Or maybe I’m getting ahead of myself…

He pulled out his tricorder and adjusted the settings so that it would focus on gathering as much information as possible about the ruins. Despite the warmth of the atmosphere, Stan felt a shiver of excitement as he prepared to learn more about the ruins.

Scans in the immediate vicinity showed that the cadets were right. There wasn’t anything of danger at the site. There was, however, a great deal of flora and fauna waiting to be examined. Small frog like creatures, small monkeys, and other jungle like creatures showed up on the scans but were outside of visual range. In other words they were hiding.

Emmy ignored her executive officer for a moment, her gaze focused on her own tricorder that had been flipped out in front of her as soon as they materialized at the position. She gnawed on her lip for a moment in an uncharacteristic display and then glanced up toward the ruins in the distance. “Proceed to the ruins,” she instructed the team, but she did make a mental note to return to examine the area around them if there was time after they completed their catalogue.

Davis, CO

(OOC: Just a quick note that some behind-the-scenes command stuff resulted in a slight retconned changed to our away team. Instead of Mason’s character on the away team, Chris’s character will be on the away team. Otherwise, carry on :). )

Eric nodded, before leading the team towards the ruins. He kept his tricorder open in his left hand, but down so he could listen to it’s beeping while still paying attention the area around them. He looked back to see everyone was following, before paying attention again to the route.

-Cmdr. Eric Lorien, XO

M’rahja couldn’t see the little animals that scurried about in the safety of the jungle flora, but she could hear them well enough. That they stayed hiding was just fine with her. Sometimes it was the smallest creatures that were the most deadly. Upon the order to investigate the ruins, she took up position at the rear of their party, trusting her acute senses to warn her of impending danger.

In the quiet moments between now and their destination, she wondered what kind of writings or images they’ll find within. The art of a lost people and the history and culture they left to impart upon the future.

Unsqueezing her eyes, Cadet Las briefly became overcome with excitement. Her mouth dropped upon sight of the foreign environment. Wow wow whoa I’m late!” Throwing all the equipment she held into a satchel bag, Cadet Las followed the fresh foot prints headed for what looked like ancient ruins.
