Madison walked down the medical corridor heading to sickbay for her medical check-in after initially making a wrong turn. It was her first day aboard the U.S.S. Challenger, so she was still in the process of learning where each specific area was located on the ship. She finally made it to her destination and the doors opened allowing her to enter the area. Here sapphire blue eyes darted around the sick bay for a moment observing her surroundings. She then turned to the personnel standing in the room. She smiled slightly and made good eye contact. “Hi, I’m Cadet Marsh. I just arrived today and am here for my medical evaluation.” Madison’s accent was clearly Australian.

Sickbay was empty, Carmen was the only person around. She was sanitizing a bio-bed when she heard the door open, and a cadet entered. Carmen smiled at her as she introduced herself.
“Hello! I’m Cadet Parker-Cawlyns, I can get that started for you.”
She moved to another (clean) bio-bed and grabbed her PADD, “Come sit down, please.” she said.

Madison nodded her head once in acknowledging Cadet Parker-Cawlyns. As she walked to the bio-bed, “Your last name is quite a mouthful. Not in a bad way at all though, I fancy it.” A slight grin came across her face after she sat down comfortably on the bio-bed. Madison carefully set her PADD (personal access display device) on the table next to the bio-bed for safekeeping. She looked upward to meet her fellow Cadet’s gaze with a voice full of confidence with no hint of arrogance at all. “My name is Madison, you could also call me by my nickname ‘Maddie’. What is your name?” Madison asked this in a friendly tone as she made an attempt to get to know the younger woman.

“Why, thank you. Not everyone likes how long it is, my first year at the Academy my professor would call me ‘pea see‘ ((P. C.)).” she said with a smile.
As Marsh settled down, Carmen pulled up her medical file. “Maddie.” she echoed. “You can call me Carmen.” She picked up her medical tri-corder and started her scan. “This will only take a moment.”

Maddie breathes calmly throughout the duration of Carmen’s tri-corder scan of her body. She had many experiences with doctors throughout her lifetime and fortunately this was just a simple check-in procedure that all Starfleet members go through when joining a new ship. After the conclusion of Carmen’s scans, Maddie tilts her head slightly with a curious look on her face. “Aside from missing a couple of organs, how do I look?”.
-Cadet Marsh

“You look…” she said, trailing off to focus on the scans. “You look totally healthy, minus a few organs. Just so you know, we can grow replacements for those ‘non-essential’ organs too, if you’d like.”
She typed a few things into her PADD. “Alright, I just have a few questions for you and then you’re good to go.”
She sat down on a stool next to the bed, and turned to face her patient. “Do you have any past medical conditions I should be aware of? Besides the missing organs, of course.”
