Mid-Morning, Starfleet Academy
With a groan Seb Petrov awoke in his dorm room, the sound of an alarm blaring in the cramped space.

“Computer! Cancel alarm!” He called out, followed by merciful silence. Checking the time, he had slept in, ruining any chance to impress his department head with an early start. What began the night before as a quiet sendoff by some of his close friends seemed a little hazy following a little too much wine.

Rising from bed, Seb set about leaving his room for the final time; showering and packing up his few personal possessions. He saved some time by skipping the leg stretches ordered by the physio, willing to risk stiffness to ensure he wasn’t late for duty. The last personal item to stow was his PADD, taking a moment to flick through some pictures taken the night before; snickering to himself at an image of himself sandwiched between two wrestling partners.

He walked with purpose and speed to the transporter station, the excitement of this next chapter tempered by thoughts of his late Brother. Robert had likely made a similar journey nearly a decade before. I hope you’re proud, brother. His parents’ opinion was clear enough in the complete lack of correspondence. This had greatly influenced his decision to remain on Earth for the recent leave of absence, Archer IV had not felt like “Home” for many years.

As his vision cleared from the transporter beam, Seb found himself aboard USS Challenger for the first time. Standing stunned for a brief moment, it took a nudge from a fellow cadet behind him to get moving into the hallway. After several minutes of wandering, doing his best impression of someone who belonged on a starship, he caught the eye of a Trill Science Cadet several years his junior. Before Seb had a chance to utter a word the Cadet interrupted…

“Security Office, Deck Seven. Think you can remember that?” She spoke with a smile but there was a clear hint of mockery.

“Hey… Thanks!” Was the best response Seb could muster, putting on a confident smile as his cheeks swiftly reddened. At least I know where I’m going now…

He spent a brief moment of privacy in the turbolift reassembling his confident demeanour. Using a vaguely-reflective panel in the turbolift door, he adjusted wavy black hair and vainly brushed at his eyebrow to cover a gap left by an old scar. Resuming an at ease posture just in time for the door to open, flashing his best smile at a group of Engineering Cadets as he strode out of the lift.

Finally, he stood before the Head of Security’s office, just in time too. Seb took a moment to steel himself before activating the doorbell…

OOC: Apologies for the length! I let this one run away from me a bit. The rest should be shorter!

Cadet Sebastien ‘Seb’ Petrov, Security.

OOC: Don’t apologize, my friend! First posts tend to be longer, and there’s not much better than a well-written and well-set-up situation. If you have a lot to say, say it!

I see you already have the IC/OOC markers and the signoff down as well. Great job!

Lieutenant Junior Grade Henry Rodier stood next to his desk, looking out the viewport on the wall of his office. A clearly newly-assembled cabinet sat in the corner, and on the wall opposite his desk hung a photograph depicting a darkening, dusky sky, with grays and blues meeting reds and yellows over a forested landscape.

Determined not to forget about a check-in this type, Henry glanced at the clock, and indeed just as he did so the room’s doorbell sounded. “Enter” called the Lieutenant. As the Cadet opened the door, Rodier turned away from the window, and gesturing at the two chairs facing him, said “Please, take a seat. Cadet Petrov, I assume?”
