Office: Head of Engineering- Cadet Parata checking in for duty

<snip!>

Noah took a seat quickly, his eyes lingering on the status display of the Challenger before his attention was drawn to the sickly looking drink. Truth be told he didn’t know what Raktajino was meant to look like and he felt a little ashamed. He’d grown up in a small town, in a sheltered life and once he’d arrived at Starfleet academy he’d spent very little time around others whilst mostly wrapped up in technical texts. He hastened a guess that Raktajino probably wasn’t meant to be green but the truth of the drink eluded him.

“No sir. Was it from a replicator? A miscalibration perhaps? Or faulty database? I probably wouldn’t drink it sir.”

OOC: Don’t forget to sign off on your posts! I’ll admit I forget every once and a while too :)

IC: Dael nodded and looked into the cup of liquid. “Yeah I thought not. More of a tea person myself, never felt the need to look into what klingon coffee entailed. I know they have some more… interesting choices, but this seemed a bit much.” He set the mug of steaming green down and clasped his hands in front of him at the desk. “And yes, an officer came in here just before you and said that’s what he got when ordering a raktajino out of the replicator in his quarters. Might have you look into that with me when we’re done here, unless you want to go now.” He gestured to the toolkits on the far wall. “Good observations on the problem thought Cadet. Did you take matter-energy tech as a specialty at the Academy? Was that an interest that brought you to this field?”

-Lt. jg Dael Stadi, Chief Engineer

“There wasn’t really one interest that pulled me towards this . It was just....everything.” Noah felt a surge of pride at the praise and continued with enthusiasm. “But matter-energy tech was one of the more advanced modules I took sir, yes.”

He looked at the toolkits on the wall. “I’d be happy to help sir. It’d feel good to get to work.”

“Perfect, that’s what I like to hear. We’ll call this a hands-on check in then.” Dael got up out of his chair and walked over to the tool-kits and grabbed one. “Just follow me, we’ll make our way to the crewman’s quarters on Deck 6 where the offending replicator is. He should be out on shift when we get there, poor guy just wanted some caffeine before he started his day and got… that.” He gestured back at the cup on the desk, and for a moment hoped it wasn’t anything that’d eventually melt through the cup.

Walking out through the Engineering deck towards the turbolift, Dael glanced backwards as he talked. “So you say you were interested in everything related to Engineering, what was it that sparked the interest? Family member? Fellow classmate? Thrust into a crazy situation where you used some ‘fix-it’ skills, realized you had a knack for it?” Dael grinned at the corner of his mouth, knowing the last question might seem oddly specific, but that was because it was exactly his own story and was curious to hear what his new team member’s was.

“Deck 6.” he told the turbolift as the doors swished shut.
