Sickbay - Cadet Williams Physical exam

Posted March 20, 2021, 6:44 a.m. by Lieutenant Junior Grade T'Saie (Chief Medical Officer) (Callie L)

“Are you positive?” T’Saie quizzed, growing slightly more baffled, “You’ve come this far, it sounds like you’re unsure about your career choice?” she pressed, wondering his nerves had scrambled his words or if he really wished to be a doctor.

Aaron drank a bit of his coffee before responding: “It’s because I never had any goal in my life. And with my curiosity, I was always scared to miss the job or the hobbies that will fully suit me. And when my father died…” His voice faded down.

He remembered the day of his dead, in this hospital. He was only eight, and it was the night his father came back from his exploration mission. His mother woke him in the middle of the night: “Come, sweetie.”
They were going to the hospital, where his mother was working. They walked for a bit inside the corridor hospital, and enter a chamber. A group of people in uniforms was here, and talked to her mother at the moment she enters the room. They were talking quietly, and Aaron could hear her mother crying. A man was in the bed, eyes closed, with pale skin.
It was his father.

A long silence followed Aaron’s last sentence. They were no sound, only the classical humming sound of the ship.
“Sorry”, he said after a moment. He looked a bit melancholic. “I just wanted to say that my father’s death was…terrifying, and reinforce that fear I had. But now, I’m sure I’ll be able to work plenty as a Starfleet officer. To help others, and to save the one in need.”

T’Saie couldn’t relate, Vulcan parents didn’t attach themselves to their children the same way human parents did. This, however, didn’t mean that she was apathetic, she empathised as much as she could, “I see..” she paused, allowing a short moment before speaking again, “This.. experience fuels your desire to help people?” she asked calmly now, easing her Vulcan stoicism and forwardness slightly.

OOC: Sorry, I forget to sign my previous post (my bad)
IC: Aaron looked at the Lieutenant. She was a bit less frosty with him, after mentioning his father’s death. Guess all Vulcan aren’t cold-hearted, uh ?, he thought with a smile.

He responded to her: “Yes, it was. Not at the moment, but this moment helped me to understand things that were beyond understanding for me, like death and pain. Since that day, I had the will to help people, both physically and mentally.”

Cadet Aaron Williams

OOC: No problem! The point is you recognised it and fixed it. ^_^

IC:
T’Saie waited for a long moment, letting the cadet reflect almost.

After the brief pause she continued her line of questions, “So, Cadet Williams. Where do you see yourself in 5 years?”
