Ko remembered that this wasn’t the only structure but the largest one of a small complex of structures. As for the results from science, those would need to wait.

“Yes, let’s all see where it leads,” Emmy confirmed, hoping that her voice sounded far more confident than she did. All she knew was that splitting up tended to lead to bad things happening… or maybe that was that old Earth horror movie that she had once been forced to sit through. Either way, they were going to stick together for now as they investigated.

Eric nodded. “Why don’t you see which ruin it leads to first,” Erc said to Ko. “I don’t want to add a charge to this until we at least know what it is connected to.”

The XO looked around at the ruins. “Provided we are just dealing with these ruins, we can stay in sight of each other without splitting up. So I can stay here while you see where this leads to. If it leads to ruin where Las is, I think we’ll need her to get out before we do anything with this switch…”

-Cmdr. Eric Holmman, XO

=^=Understood,=^= Alison said as she fed the transporter coordinates into the computer and initiated the transport. =^=Give me a few minutes to have the computer analyze the samples, and I’ll get back to you. And Cadet, good work.=^=

OOC: To answer a question that came up in Discord, let’s try to keep everything in this thread for right now.

Emmy nodded to confirm Holmman’s orders. “That seems reasonably conservative, Commander,” she confirmed and then turned to keep a careful eye on where Ko was headed. It was gnawing at her that they were even splitting up this much, but she hoped that it would be relatively peaceful as they investigated the ruins.

  • Davis, CO

“If recall correctly, this should lead to one of the smaller structures,” said Cadet Ko, and nodded when given her order, “Understood. I’ll try to stay within easy communication distance.” The cadet held her tricorder in her off-hand, and followed the path of the cable into the jungle. She remained mindful of the distance between her and the rest of the team, and quirked her ears towards any strange sound.

After hearing Lieutenant Barr’s acknowledgement, Stan put the samples that were not designated for transport into the archaeological sample carrying case that he had brought in his pack. He touched the control panel on the case so that it would begin running the scans that it was capable of. It was not as thorough as the computer on the Challenger, but it might still provide some useful information.

Stan then returned to his tricorder’s attempt at analyzing the writing on the ruins, while listening to the discussion among the rest of the away team.

Cadet Wisniewski, Scientist

Ko’s journey didn’t take her very far off, at least not far enough that she was outside of shouting distance, much less communication distance. Through the trees and into a large open clearing she went before she saw it, over grown with moss and dirt, yet the shape and structure were undeniable. There in front of the security cadet was some sort of solar power generation station, and the cabling ran back towards the main building. This was very likely how the whole thing was powered.

The case that Stan brought did some similar research and eventually came back with the ruins and the the technology were of vastly different time periods, at least a couple of centuries different. Further neither were young enough to be in the correct time frame for the ruins to be of significance. No this was something all together out of time, out of sequence. This was something old that was also new.

GM Wombat

=^= Commander Holmman, I’ve found what appears to be a solar power station. It looks to be large enough to power the main structure. =^= The Cadet moved closer, her tricoder raised to begin her study of the old power station. A solar array as a power source, while no doubt effective, was this the only means of power available to these people? This could be an important clue to just who their mysterious builders were.

Cadet Ko (Security)

=^= Wisniewski, Barr here. Got the scan data back, the items you sent are not showing any relation to either the Valakians, or the Menk. And dating on them is not fitting into the timeframe we have been looking at. I think we are looking at a completely different civilization here. Let me know if you want me to run any other tests here on the Challenger. =^=
