Aaron was walking through the Challenger corridors. Even if he passed the physical exam and the meeting with his new chief, there was still the last thing to do: meeting the counselor of the ship. Strangely, it was the stage he feared the most. It’ll be fine, thought the cadet, like he wanted to reassure himself. He hurried up a bit, thinking about the meeting.

After a moment, he entered in a turbo lift: “Computer, head to…” The cadet stopped his command. He then realized a simple fact. I… don’t know where the counselor’s office is… While he was searching for a solution, his thoughts were quickly interrupted by the voice of the computer: “Please select a destination.” Aaron tried: “Uhm…Computer? Do you know by any hazard where is the counselor’s office?
-Of course I know, cadet. Would you like me to take you to his deck?
-Yes, please.”
The doors closed, and the turbo lift began to move.

The turbo lift stopped, and Aaron stepped out of it, walking to the counselor’s office. He then stops in front of the door, adjusted his uniform, and entered the office.

The door opened on to what one might expect in a counselor’s office: a small desk sat to the right of the room, a food slot on the wall behind it; on the left was a large L-shaped sectional sofa, upholstered in light blue, against a dark blue wall. Above the couch hung a painting of a human couple, man in tuxedo and a barefoot woman in a red evening gown, dancing on a wet beach, while a butler and maid stood nearby, clutching umbrellas against the wind. A vase in matching red sat on an end table, holding white daisies.

What one might not expect would be the counselor laying atop the back of the couch, one arm behind the sofa. She smiled brightly as Aaron entered. “Hi! You must be Aaron,” she said, then her face scrunched up, and her shoulder could be seen moving her arm around behind the couch. “Just… one… second,” she muttered. “Got it!” She swung her arm up and rolled onto the couch seats, holding aloft a PADD. “I stretched and accidentally dropped it back there just before you showed up,” she told the cadet as she stood. She straightened the standard-issue Starfleet top, shoulders ensconced in medical blue, then checked on the bun her dark hair was wound in on the top of her head before she extended her hand.

“I’m Lieutenant Commander Lofton, but please call me Vanessa.” She swung a hand toward the sofa. “Please have a seat. Would you like something to drink?”

OOC: Bonjour Adrien! In the counselor thread we focus on building your character’s back story, learning about their desires, motivations, and what makes them tick. Hopefully, we come up with a few things to add to your bio, which you’ve already got a great start on. I look forward to writing with you!

OCC: Thank you, Nathan, I hope I’ll be able to write some good stories with you!
As he enters the room, Aaron was quite surprised about the decoration, even if he heard some facts about counselor decorations. Well, that’s quite fancy, he thought. It changes me from Sickbay’s offices.

After the scene that the counselor offered to him, as she was searching for her PaDD, Aaron briefly disconnected his brain from the absurdity of the scene, which was a little funny to him. He then took back his attitude, trying to contain his laugh. In fact, he felt his little fear going away. I got to say she is really different from all the superior I could have met.

“Well thanks, Vanessa. I’m Aaron Williams, but I think you already know my name.” He sat on the sofa, and looked at the counselor: “If it doesn’t bother you, I will take a coffee, please.”

“Of course!” she replied, walking to the replicator. She returned, handing him his coffee and sat on the couch with a hot chocolate for herself.

“This is just a getting-to-know-you session,” she told him, then took a sip of the chocolate and hummed, a small smile gracing her features. “I want to get to know you so I can learn how best to help you during your stay here on the Challenger. So we’ll start easy - what do you like to do when you’re off duty?”
