Main Sim - Holodeck

Posted April 17, 2021, 6:24 a.m. by Lieutenant Junior Grade Dael Stadi (Chief Engineer) (Griffin Day)

<snip>

The tricorder scan revealed that apparently the tribbles had gotten a little hungry in their state and nibbled on some of the inner workings of the holodeck systems. It would be a challenging repair for someone without engineering skill, but it was doable, particularly with some support from engineering on the topic. The tribble that d’Quorvos had nudged out of the way seemed to find a deep affection for his foot and clung to it as he tried to complete his task.

Rodier made his way over to WantsToGolf, taking a roll of gauze from a pack on his hip. “Cadet, I’m going to try to wrap your ankle as best I can. Just hang in there.” Much as he was putting on a calm face, mentally, all he could think was where the hell is Engineering? Are the turbolifts broken, too?

WantsToGolf’s lower lip just quivered at Rodier, but she remained still and silent as he wrapped her ankle. Thankfully, cadets did receive at least some basic first aid training and he was able to at least provide some basic support for her injury.

As if response to Henry’s thoughts, a voice began to be heard coming from the security cadet’s comm.

=^= NE Trinneer to Rodier, sorry about the wait, had some recent departures in the department, slowed us down a bit. But don’t you fret, I’m on the other side of the door now. Seems to not be responding, is that how it is on your end?=^=

The fair haired engineer began to set down his toolkit on the other side of the bulkhead, opened his tricorder and began a scan to help identify where he needed to look.

”=^= Rodier to NE Trinneer, that’s an affirmative. Doors aren’t responding. Neither are the holodeck programs. =^=” Setting WantsToGolf’s leg gently down onto the floor, Henry looked towards the door. While he didn’t expect a giant hammer to suddenly bust it open, he didn’t really know what the engineer was planning on doing on the other side of that sheet of metal.

Trinneer’s scans revealed that there seemed to be something interfering with the holodeck’s physical components. It almost seemed as though the system was being… shorted? out.

NE Trinneer looked down at his tricorder as he listened to the cadet over the comm. =^= Understood Cadet, I’m going to see about getting these doors open for you and your team. I heard something about tribbles being in there with you? Looks to me the critters may have caused some shorts in the system. Probably nibbling at what they ain’t supposed to. Can you get the holodeck’s arch to appear and access any terminals? I’ll be on my end doing the same putting eyes on what damage I can. =^=

The NE removed one of the outer panels in the hall’s bulkhead, exposing some of the circuitry of the holodeck wall mounted controls. Tricorder still in hand, he went about identifying any of the connections that were causing the power to short through the system. He kept an eye out for any parts that needed replacing, and had some spare ODN relays and cables along with a hyperspanner organized atop his open toolkit in case some on the spot replacements needed to be made.
