Alison chuckled from where she stood outside of the hot tub. At least the cadets were getting into the mood of the event, this was for them after all.

Lt Barr - CSO

Emmy chewed on her lip as she awaited the cadet’s presence at the front of the room before realizing that she may not have made it to the room in time from her sickbay shift. With a slight sigh of annoyance, she moved on to the next cadet.

“Cadet M’rahja Ko, please come forward.”

  • Davis, CO

Cadet Ko arrived somewhat late to the graduation party, having been held up in the hallway by a chatty ensign who didn’t take her hints that she was going to be late to her own graduation ceremony if she didn’t leave right now. But the Cadet did make her escape, and slipped into the room in time to hear her name being called. The cadet, dressed in her regular uniform, stepped forward and only the twitching of her tail betrayed her nerves. M’rahja stood in parade rest, uncertain if she needed to say anything or only stand still and listen.

Cadet Ko (Security)

Emmy held her hand out expectantly toward the XO, assuming that he had done his typical task of collecting the boxes with each graduating cadet’s new ensign pip in them.

“Cadet Ko, you are hereby promoted to Ensign. Congratulations.” Given the nature of the celebration, she simply handed the enclosed box to the cadet as opposed to pinning it upon her collar.

“Congratulations, M’rajah! I mean, Ensign Ko!” Miya called, clapping Bajoran-style.

Congrats, M’jarah! You deserve it!

Pausing for a few moments to allow the assembled group to offer congratulations, she moved on to the next cadet: “Cadet Stainslaw Wisniewski, come forward.”

  • Davis, CO

As she waited for the latest graduate to step forwards, Miya leaned close to Aaron. “I wonder what it’ll be like when it’s our turn? Can you believe our time at the Academy is coming to an end?” She wasn’t expecting to graduate for at least another month, if not longer, but witnessing the ceremony was making her think ahead.

[Cadet Ven Miya]
Aaron looked at Miya, who was coming closer to him. … I’m just getting ideas, right?, he thought, quite nervous Miya’s distance from him. How long since he wasn’t that close to a girl? No, stop! Focus, Aaron! Even if it’s a party, I have to remain a bit serious.

“Um… Yeah, I haven’t seen the days passing!”, said the young man, trying to hide his confusion. “And I’ve just begun to get used to the ship so… I think I’m going to miss it, after all.” He smiled, thinking about the Tribble incident: “And, at least, we’ve made some good memories, don’t you think?”

Cadet Aaron Williams

“Yes! We certainly have.” Miya shook her head, setting her d’ja pagh earring jangling gently. “I’ll never look at shampoo in the same way again!” She darted a sideways glance at Aaron, chuckling as she added, “I hope that all the tribbles were found. Could you imagine opening a door one day and being half-buried by an avalanche of fur?”

As he watched his fellow cadets…former cadets, now…receive their promotions, Stan began to relax, and forgot about the uniqueness of the setting and the lack of formality of the attire many of them were wearing.

Then he heard the Captain call his name, and somehow that brought him back to fact that he was in a hot tub room in his swim trunks. Not exactly how I imagined it…

He sort of envied Cadet, no, Ensign Ko being in her regular uniform.

Well there was no time to change now. Nothing for Stan to do except follow orders.

He stepped towards the Captain.

Cadet Wisniewski, Scientist

Unaware of Aaron’s thoughts, Miya leaned closer to nudge him gently in the ribs as she nodded towards the cadet who was about to graduate. “Look! Isn’t he one of the science team? Oh, I wonder where they’ll all be posted after Challenger ....” She caught her breath, her expression changing briefly, then forced a smile. “Or maybe they’ll stay aboard, like you did, sir!” she added quietly, half-turning towards Lieutenant Rodier. It was always important to include people in conversations. Even when they were perched on the edge of a hot tub.

[Cadet Ven Miya]

Henry smiled faintly, not wanting to butt in on someone else’s conversation, nor interrupt what was undoubtedly one of the more important parts of these Cadets’ lives. Still, it was a bit jarring to hear himself referred to as “sir” so passively in conversation.

Emmy’s obliviousness regarding the science cadet’s attire was clear as she proceeded with the ceremony.

“Cadet, with the authorization of Starfleet Academy, it is my pleasure to promote you to the rank of Ensign.” She punctuated her statement by extending the small box containing his Ensign pip. “Congratulations, Ensign, and good luck.”

“Cadet Issac Conroy, step forward.”

  • Davis, CO

“Congratulations!” Alison said stepping up next to Stan. “It’s definitely well deserved, and I’m glad that I had a chance to be a part of your training here on the Challenger.”

Lt Barr - CSO

OOC: Oops! Got a split thread here.

IC:
Rodier clapped heartily as Ensign Wisniewski was handed the box, refocusing on the ceremony at hand, however spur-of-the-moment it seemed.
