“Any power sources or active Federation energy signatures? Life signs?” Eric asked. Turning to the Captain, he shared his thoughts. “There main communications may be gone, but if we can locate the survivors then we can proceed with rescue operations.”

-Commander Eric Holmman, XO

Emmy had been about to enquire about the life signs, but Holmman had beaten her to it. She didn’t respond to his thoughts, instead intent on listening to hear where the life signs might be located on the colony so that they could begin the evacuation and get out of the area as quickly as possible. While the threat would not necessarily be diminished then, it would still be in her full control when the colonists were on the Challenger itself.

As the turbo lift doors opened, Alison walked out holding her cup of coffee. The pot was basically empty, so she had left it in the lab.

“Captain, you called?” She asked as she walked towards the center of the bridge.

Lt Barr - CSO

Emmy eyed the mug of brown liquid in the Chief Science Officer’s hand for a moment, briefly distracted in contemplation of whether or not beverages were appropriate on the bridge. Technology advancement meant that liquids were not precisely the danger that they once were to electronic components, but particularly with the yellow alert klaxon chiming in from the background, it seemed like a risk. Hopefully it was not a particularly high temperature beverage.

Since she had already notified the crew that they had arrived within range of the colony, Emmy skipped that detail. “Sensor data is at your station, Lieutenant. Review it and keep us apprised of any concerns regarding the status of the colony and risks to the evacuation process.”

The XO nodded in acknowlegment at Barr’s arrival, however his attention was focused on the scan results. Eric was running through different scenarios in his head for the colony situation and what would be needed in rescuing them, but they needed information before they could proceed…

-Cmdr. Eric Holmman, XO

The cadet that was running the sensor sweep hesitated over the results they saw before looking back at the XO. “I’m not picking up energy signatures of any type Commander. At least not anything that can be identified as a power source. Life signs are proving difficult to pin down. There are a concentration of life signs within a fifty kilometer radius of the colony site but I’m unable to identify where exactly or what type.”

“I assume a transporter lock is improbable, then,” Emmy stated, not even attempting to make it a question. She eyed her XO for a moment and then asked, “shuttle or transporter?” It seemed that this evacuation was not going to be easy; they were going to have to go down to retrieve the colonists.

=^= Stadi to Bridge, we’ve analyzed the damage to the colonies structures. The two most likely scenarios are that the base’s main power source exploded, or a ship opened fire on the colony, in that order. Working right now to see if there’s any interference we’ll need to work through from the damage for evacuation procedures.=^=
