Another day, another patrol, Starr thought to himself. He knew this was a big part of the role he had taken, but he also knew on ships there wasn’t always too much going on. It got to a point where most of the other cadets and staff on the ship would be used to see him walking around the various decks, and he would always stop and make time for anyone that wanted a conversation. He also knew this was the time to get to know other people, as maybe one day they might be his captain, or vice versa.

The patrol started like any other, leaving the Chief of Security’s office and patroling the brig. It was still empty and they hadn’t needed to use it recently, so he tested the force fields to make sure they were all in working order. One of the force fields didn’t activate so he tapped his commbadge

=/\=Security to Engineering, when you get a moment, just letting you know that the force field on cell 2 in the brig is down.=/\=

He decided to wait for someone to come by for some time so that he wouldn’t be the one to get the blame on this patrolf or not noticing it.

Cadet Simon Starr

OCC: Cadet Griffth, this would be good for you.

-Gordon, CE

I Be down there as soon as i can.
Griffth,Cadet

Simon stood waiting at the brig. He had a very basic understanding of how it worked, but not what to do when it went wrong. He tried it again, and it was still unresponsive. Starr then awaited the arrival of one of the engineers to come and take a look at it.

Cadet Simon Starr, Security
D-Do you need some help Cadet?
Griffth,Cadet.

“Ah, yes” he said to Griffth, “Look” he said, trying to activate the force field for the second cell in the brig from the console, as he did so, the force field didn’t come on. “Not sure exactly why this is happening, but for some reason there’s no power reaching the force field for cell 2. The others are fine” he said, demonstrating that the other cell force field was working and it powered up normally.

Cadet Simon Starr, Security
D-Dang let me see if someone can help as this only my second day on the ship. Griffth tap his combadge “Can I Get a Engieer down to the brig we need someone who knows cells.
Griffth,Cadet
I hope someone can get down here
Griffth,Cadet

OCC: When you want to use your combadge. use the =^= sign, it will indicate that you want to use the combadge. for example, =^=Gordon to Cadet Griffth, =^=

IC: Cadet Jones responded. =^=I can help Cadet Griffth, I am on my way.=^= A few minutes later Cadet Jones arrived. He saw the two cadets and approached them.

“What’s the problem?” He asked the two cadets.

-Cadet Jones, Eng

“Hi Cadet, there seems to be some sort of problem with the force field on cell 2.” Starr demonstrated again, showing that it wouldn’t activate, and that the other force field was working fine. “It’s not the whole system… otherwise none of them would be working” he added.

We trying to get the second cell frocefiield to work but none of us no how to work it.
Griffth,Cadet

NE Stickyfingers sits on the other side of the room licking strawberry jam from a doughnut off of his fingers, looking quite innocent.

Taking note of the officer on the other side of the room, Starr had another look at the panel to see if there was any hint of jam that may have got into the console. He always believed in making sure to keep food away from the consoles in case of accidents that could happen as a result.

If its Jam alright, We got other stuff need to deal with.” Computer, Play Spaceballs By The Spinners. Griffth Said.

Jones took a hard look at NE Stickyfingers, “Sir, do you know how long it will take to clean this out?” he asked the ensign, knowing the rank difference.

-Cadet Jones, Eng

“There’s a reason the security chief says no food at the console” Simon added. “The sugar from those things gets everywhere” he continued, turning to face Jones. “Well, looks like that’s the issue, sticky buttons!” he said, giving a look of disapproval to NE Stickyfingers. “I’ll make a note and let the chief know of the issue” he said, just loud enough that NE Stickyfingers would hear.

He then continued on his patrol around the ship. Everything else seemed pretty normal, everything working fine and then he came across two other cadets who were getting into a heated discussion. One human, by the looks of them, and the other Andorian. They seemed to be in an argument, but Starr wasn’t close enough to hear exactly what was being said.

He found a spot to make sure things didn’t get too out of hand and to step in if the need arised. He liked to give the illusion that there was always a security officer around keeping the peace. It helped keep it that way when people felt that if they did something wrong, security would be on them quicker than someone can say “take them to the brig”.

All the while, seeing the two argue did remind him of the arguments Simon had with his brother. They got on well enough, but they would have their disagreements and arguements like all brothers. And like all brothers, they had each others backs. Until he didn’t.

Focusing on the argumentive pair in the corridor, Starr continued watching to see if it did escalate any further.

Cadet Simon Starr,
